RE: MBB CUSA * Talk, Results and Updates * Road to the Championship March 11-15
My take on Biberaj:
I've seen the kid play 3 or 4 times at the summer league games when he was with CNU. Also watched him practice with ODU twice. My honest assessment is that I don't see him ever being a starter at ODU. He doesn't have a low post game with any polish to it. He is a face to the basket big who has average range on his jump shot. He will struggle guarding a big that has quick feet as Biberaj is "heavy footed." He is not very physical and doesn't like contact. Rebounding would be described as being adequate.
On the current roster, he would be behind both Taylor and Ebondo on the depth chart. Whoever stated that Twardzik said that Biberaj would be the 2nd best option on the team is telling a whopper of a fib. Biberaj will likely struggle to see 5 minutes a game next year if we sign any more bigs with the two open slots we have.
I'll put it this way: if Biberaj is playing significant minutes, we will have a very long year.

CUSA must have a better Basketball TV package, better leadership from conference officials for promoting the name, and elevating the name of CUSA so we are a part of the discussion on a national stag. As I see it, we have no leadership with that aspect of this conference. To me this has been the biggest negative about CUSA. I see no true marketing or branding for the league.
Gee I wonder why all those other schools left. Would you buy a house in a neighborhood where 2 out of every 3 houses was for sale? Wouldn't you have to ask yourself why all these people want out?
At the time they thought they were headed to a much better conference (the Big East). There isn't a school in a non p5 conference that wouldn't have made the same move. They didn't know (not that they shouldn't have seen the writing on the wall) that all the teams with good football would move to a p5 and the private (basketball schools) would leave and take the only good thing left (big east name).
Eventually uconn will exit stage left and the AAC will be a garbage basketball/football conference.
UCONN was hoping the ACC would have taken them but it didn't happen. I agree that eventually a better conference will swallow them up. If not for football, certainly for basketball. Then the Big East will just be the old CUSA minus a few schools.
