I liked this one:

Quote:Joseph Duarte ‏@Chronicle_Owls 3m
David Bailiff isn't satisfied with @Conference_USA title. He saw something he didn't like in spring drills and yelled "Last year is over!"

Excited to see what Derek Brown can do on defense. In 2012 he had some snaps there and look fast and ferocious, if perhaps rough around the edges (DE pun!).

I hope DJ is fully healthy so he can show what he can do as #1 (for better or worse) during the spring. Too bad his injuries limited his role in 2013, would have been nice for him to get some more snaps during the season, which sounded like Coach Bailiff's original intent before DJ battled injuries all season.

Where can one find a copy of the spring depth chart?

Jefferson Powell posted the full spring schedule over at Rivals, and I believe it is free to view.

That is an interesting and somewhat troubling depth chart...

Thanks. Cole Hunt 4th on the TE depth chart ... time to volunteer for some time at DE?!?

Taylor, Parks, and Hull atop the WR depth chart sounds right. Too bad it took Hull so long to get there, he was pretty impressive a few year ago.

Jayson Carter not active? Where's the fun in that, he probably had the most sincere athlete interview I've seen!

That is an interesting and somewhat troubling depth chart...

Thin at DT. Far from anything proven at DE, but lots of bodies. Potentially thin at CB.

We look pretty well set on the offensive side of the ball. Interesting to see Big Ian Gray slotted atop at LT. The potential of the offense will likely come down to QB play as it usually does.

I see the coaches are trying to find someway to extract value from Decell's scholarship, giving him a look at WR. Probably best to not scholarship offer specialists unless they are top 5-10 nationally out of HS like Boswell was.

RE: Duarte tweeting spring drills info
I thought Edmondson's comments on the video from the first day of spring practice (via riceowls.com) were positively appalling. He spoke like Driphus' job was to "manage the game and let others make plays. " A lot of the mistakes are because there are looks that are new to him." "He tries to make plays that aren't there, because he's trying to make up for something". Really? All this commentary about "he's waited his turn" and it's "his time" inspires zero confidence in me that there is competition at this or any other position. I'm sorry, that's not what we should expect out of our QB that has been with this program since the fall of 2011.

Thanks for mentioning this. One comment I liked was Driphus saying "I understand that we changed a lot of stuff on the offense." Considering I wasn't overall with enamored with Reagan's work, hope things are a little more balanced/creative. Or maybe they are just tweaking to emphasize Driphus's strengths?

Edmondson's comments were actually pretty candid about what Driphus needs to work on. Players can certainly get in trouble if they are pushing too hard to make a play. A coach needs to recognize whether a player needs to be pushed a little to try and make plays or reigned in a little so he doesn't create mistakes. Hopefully that is what is going on here.

I have no problem with them naming Driphus the leader at this point. He has been in the program almost 3 years and certainly showed enough positives to hope for the best. At the same time, QB is the most important position on the team and if German or Billups or Stehling or anyone else is the best QB, that guy needs to be the starter come fall, regardless of who has been #2 the past couple years or who has been "next in line" the past few years.

There are a lot of interesting items on that depth chart.
1. Darrion Pollard is now a WR
2. Zach Espinosa ( a Junior) is now at Free Safety. I hope we redshirt him.
3. The Offensive line depth chart seems to purposefully be a 2 deep depth chart. Otherwise, I would be concerned about guys like Matt Wofford missing.
4. Trey Martin is back at Center. With Klinger coming in the fall, Center is going to be a strength.

RE: Duarte tweeting spring drills info
Went to practice today
1. Kind of hard to evaluate our QBs without the benefits of a scrimmage. But among the three I watched today, DJ is definitely the starter. Stehling seems to the best deep out. Though DJ is the starter, at times it seemed as if he didn't trust the progressions and was looking to run. From my very limited observation, I could see a very real case being made for Nate German. He possesses all of the tools.
3. Lots of drops. Seems that we say that every spring.
4. Christian Covington...my word. He blew up the online during pass rush drills.
5. There is good competition at center. Martin is pushing Stanley hard.

Did I miss something? I'd figure Jowan Davis to rank in the depth chart.
