At least we get a bye after 8 games to heal up for the stretch run.

RE: 2014 football schedule
I can't complain too much about that. Our toughest back to back is probably Miami (FL) and SMU and we get a bye going into our toughest conference game in ECU. They could've been MUCH tougher on us.

Yep, securing a home game on Oct 4 was big. Gave us a bye later on.

RE: 2014 football schedule
Wow, so we play 6 opponents following their bye week? For ECU we also have a bye in the prior week, but that is a little ridiculous.

RE: 2014 football schedule
The preseason expectation is for UC UCF Houston and ECU to challenge for the AAC title . The Conference matched up those 4 teams in the final week.

UC gets Houston and ECU at home and they dont play UCF . Advantage us.

RE: 2014 football schedule
The double bye to start the season is really really really bad.

I looked and did find a "solution" within 5 minutes of looking:

(1) Tulane at Tulsa is moved to October 25.

(2) Cincinnati no longer plays at Tulane on October 31.

(3) Cincinnati instead plays at Tulsa on August 30.

(4) South Florida no longer plays at Tulsa on October 18.

(5) South Florida instead plays at Tulane on October 4.

(6) East Carolina at Cincinnati moved to November 8.

-----------------------

Now, that may not be viable for whatever reason, and it's still not absolutely perfect (UC goes bye-ECU-bye in the first 3 weeks of November), but it's definitely better than the current.

This schedule says to me that the AAC does not like us. The feeling is mutual.

RE: 2014 football schedule
With how many times we have been referred to as "nobodies" and our team and facilities referred to as "high school" level, youd think we would refrain from treating others like that.

Its not an optimal schedule, or even an overly efficient one, but I think the waiting will be the worst part at the beginning of the season. We will face Toledo when the already have im guessing two games of experience under their belt, but on the flipside, that gives us two weeks of prep and film to look over. We get the two most likely title contenders at home, with a bye before one of them. Missing UCF last year sucked. It sucked major suckage. But it doesn't bother me this year. Like I said, ECU and Houston are the top of the hill this year, and we land them both at home. Our easiest games are on the road.

Some blame Whit, others blame the AAC. I blame both.

True the AAC did little to nothing to help our situation. But, Whit gave up a home game, already scheduled in the first week. Although I would rather play Miami-FL than Stonybrook, one, you don't give up an opening day game, and two I hate it when teams drop others from the schedule within months of the season's start. It is just bad form.

MY OPINION - I do blame the AAC more, because we were doing what Aresco and the gang in the conference office would want us to - go out and schedule big games. So they should have helped us a lot more than they did.

It does make you wonder if it's a really icy relationship right now with Aresco. If we had coaches out recruiting late last year telling players we were B12 bound that doesn't give AAC leadership warm fuzzy feelings about Cincinnati. On the other hand, the AAC needs UC to be a player nationally in both sports and carry the conference banner. Of course we're all willing to trade that banner in at the first opportunity and they know that too.

RE: 2014 football schedule
I'm more upset that Toledo will be two games into the season before UC plays - UT has given UC issues in the past. IMO, it's never good to be in the hole 2 games to your opponent.

Also, not a fan of Friday night games - hard for those that work to get down there, especially to the riverfront on a Friday rush hour going south on a ripped up I-75.

...and how sad is that? Our season likely hinges on the Toledo game. I would have laughed at that statement 5 years ago.

Don't underestimate this schedule. Potentially 5 losses on this schedule. Toledo, Columbus state u, Miami, Houston, ecu.

Yep.

Drop that Toledo game and 2010 might look like the good ol' days. Nothing like having a "must win" right out of the shoot....well our shoot at least...rest of the planet will have a couple games under their belts.by then.

Does anyone want to apply to be a ref so you can swing the games in our favor?
