Great of the Stryker family to make the very generous donation. But have to say it would be nice if the university could come up with more dignified names than Homer or Waldo. Said with all due respect to the individuals whom the structures/institutions are named after.

Not surprised to finally find out the Stryker's were the anonymous donors.

That aside, great news - for WMU and Kalamazoo in general. Certainly a respected name in the medical field and now we've got it associated with our medical school.

Go Broncos.

Could be worse. Could have the surnames DeVos or Van Andel attached.

Don't they have a few bldgs at GVSU named after them as well? Same school where they told the student paper if you don't like corporate naming of buildings, return your scholarships? What a sh1thole.

I think there is one building with a DeVos name on it. The biggest contributions to GVSU come from the Pew (think Steelcase)
family. The downtown campus is named after them. Other big contributors are Seechia (local businessmen and former ambassador) and Eberhard. Like WMU in Kalamazoo, GVSU gets significant donations from local successful business owners.

But I am with you, would not like to see either one of the bubble boys names on buildings at WMU. Putting your name on buildings is one thing, but those two carry it further. When the VanAndle family donated the $$s for the arena, they also had a statue of the patriarch erected in front of the entrance and on one of the busiest corners in GR. Talk about being full of yourself.

Just look at the Kalamazoo Promise $500,000,000 and all anonymous but everyone knows the bulk of that money is Stryker money. To have a respected name in the medical field on your Med school is not the worst thing in the world.

I think the Stryker name is great, and very fitting for a medical school. Just don't care for the Homer.

Well, if our football team gets on track, "PJ" could be an added name to something. :)

I thought BroncoBlitz renamed their site "PJ's House" already, right?

When we win BCS NC, as Peej talked about in his introductory press conference -

Waldo, Brown, and Seelye will all be renamed for him.
