When I made my original reply I had not seen that you'd made an identical post in the Political forum. Had I seen it first, I would have put my reply in that thread. My tabs open in order of forum listing and People's comes before Political.

I mean I love Ron Paul probably even more than you love Barack Obama (since my love borders on obsession), but when he was doing Leno I wasn't posting double links in both the political and people's forum. Not that you don't have that right; post it in every forum on CSNbbs for all I care. I just don't understand why you're getting upset that I posted what I did in this forum rather than another. Maybe you are the thread/forum nazi, haha. I just don't know why we couldn't have discussed both the political aspect and the comedy aspect in the same forum. Sometimes I forget the majority of the American population and subsequently the majority of posters on this forum prefer to keep their heads buried deep in the sand rather than taking the time to research, learn about, and discuss the issues that have real affect in our everyday lives.

I guess you just don't want the thread to get moved/merged, and I completely understand where you're coming from. Doing so was not my intention when I made the first post. I guess I'll just never understand why a reasonable discussion about the intentions of the video can't be had while at the same time acknowledging it was ******* hilarious and that Obama has and always will be a funny and charismatic human being without it having to be moved to another forum. If Ron had half of Obama's charisma they'd have tried to make him President for life.

But out of respect for you wanting this thread to remain in this forum I'll post on your thread in the political forum if I feel the need to make another comment.

I posted this to the P-R forum first because I knew the usual posters there (including some not connected to the U of M) would have a political opinion.

I started a thread here because there might also be a desire for folks to find out and discuss the video outside of discussing the politics of it. Even you admit the video is funny. If you left that second part of your original statement out, this discussion never goes political.

If I met Ron Paul in a setting not intended for political discussion (I.e. A fundraiser for a charitable organization) I could meet, greet, and not dwell on issues I disagree with him on. Sometimes politics are too divisive and can ruin a friendly, laid back atmosphere.

You breached the etiquette of this forum by posting this here and you know it.

Yes sir... There is a thread on P-R for your snide comment.

When Jimmy Carter and George Bush die (and it will be sooner rather than later) you mean you aren't mature enough to post on a People's Forum BOH thread without being political, especially considering there will be a political discussion on P-R?

If it is anything other than shake his hand and say "It is an honor to meet you," then you are probably too far left or right. I say that to say this was funny, plain and simple.

This. That's what's wrong with our society today. Everything has to have a side and everyone has to root for one side or another. Whether you like him (or her) or not, a president is still a president. If the president isn't running for anything and campaigning, and they are talking about a GOVERNMENT PROGRAM, that is not political as far as elections and what not. More importantly, 4 minutes of the video was straight comedy and the last minute and a half discussed the GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. The last 30 seconds was part of a series running gag.

There are times elected officials can be discussed without it being a political discussion. If you cannot realize that, I suggest you get a cold beer, turn on the ceiling fan, and get over yourself. It's not always that serious.

I was never a Dubya fan... Doesn't mean he couldn't be funny in a Presidential Coorespondent's dinner video.

I think it's funny that you think someone MUST be all hot and bothered for feeling this way, when it's simply not true.

With the very nature of the job, ANYTHING the president does is political. Should it be that way? Maybe, maybe not, but history has shown this to be the case. And it's not just in the US that we feel this way. People all over the world do the same thing. That job is a political job, in every facet, and their actions are planned down to extreme minute details by an army of people trying to keep messages in the direction they want.

A-FREAKIN-MEN!

"It's good to be the king", I guess?

Maybe next week he can make a cameo on Dancing with the Stars or The Amazing Race?

RE: President Barack Obama on Between Two Ferns
In the end, it was political. I rest my case. Everything a President does is political.
