Perhaps our last starting basketball player who was also an engineer.

Here's a couple. Music (try WNKU). Silence. These would be my recommendations. Everybody I know who listens to the big one is in a perpetual state of anger. Just tune out, you will be a happier and better person.

Most radio personalities will say controversial things just to procure viewers; it's probably best to ignore the temptation.

He was Skip Bayless before Skip Bayless. Just says extreme things he doesn't even believe and in most cases knows are flat out lies and watches the reaction fly in.

RE: How dumb is Bill Cunningham?
I quit listening to Cunningham & WLW in general many years ago (except for sports related stuff) - Cunningham is a cynical, clever in a self- serving way kind of shyster who long ago figured out that rebranding himself as a right wing shock jock was the way for him to exploit ignorance for his own profit. He therefore became a Rush wanna- be and raked in the suckers' dollars. He's not at all dumb, just without ethics or a concern for facts.

Just quit listening. Let them die on the vine, as well as the Enquirer.

I like all the daytime shows on WLW because I take them for what they are... entertainment. They are there to entertain, no more no less.

I don't listen to anything sports related on there except for UC games and coaches shows. Lance ruined sports talk for me a very long time ago and I've never turned back. If I turn on any sports talk any more it is Dan Patrick, Jay Mohr, and Jim Rome. Mike and Mike sometimes, but even they bug the crap out of me as they only pimp the ESPN properties.

The hundreds of podcasts. itunes, podcastone.com among many more. If you are interested in it, there is a very good chance there is a podcast about it.

I quit listening to WLW a few years ago (except for UC & Reds). Bill isn't stupid, just annoying and pandering. I still wonder why people listen to the same ol' shtick.

+1 for NPR. While I don't always agree, at least it is informative and is pretty intelligent.

The only time our household listens to local radio is for UC or Reds broadcasts, and we never listen to local radio on-line feeds.

For streaming music, it is Radio Paradise, Rhapsody, WWOZ in New Orleans, or a number of other sources.

RE: How dumb is Bill Cunningham?
I'll never understand how Legree was an AA. That guy drove me nuts. Couldn't take care of the ball, terrible shooter, shot free throws with Shaq O'neal percentages, and awful in the clutch. I know he was injured at one point, and was smart enough to have gotten into the coaching field, but man he drove me nuts. He, Charles Williams, and Michael Horton seemed like an unending line of Bearcat point guards built like tanks and about as graceful. And LSU's Tack Minor was set to be next in line until Huggs came to his senses and signed Logan.

I hated that era.

Ask Danny Fortson what he thought of LeGree. LeGree consistantly made good passes to the post and got guys in good position so Danny could score.

RE: How dumb is Bill Cunningham?
If I remember right LeGree had an assist to turnover ratio of around 2-1, better than most would think. He was extremely frustrating though...the kid could drive the lane and get to the rim to draw a foul almost at will - unfortunately it was essentially a turnover after he bricked two free throws.

I do agree that it was a streak of very flawed PGs. I hated how Williams would dribble high - like up to his temples high. Really makes you appreciate how good a healthy Cash was, and how fun it will be to watch Troy develop.

i recall not thinking Legree was very good....and then the next year when we didn't have a point guard to feed Danny (we had Charles Williams) I remember thinking, "gosh I'd take Legree back in two seconds".

RE: How dumb is Bill Cunningham?
Others have chimed in but I would say some examples are Pandora, Spotify, internet radio, satellite radio, and Ipods. It is probably why Clear Channel is trying iheartradio. Terrestrial radio just cannot compete because they are locked into their cookie cutter formats (or tired schtick like Cunningham which already leans old) and force listeners to their schedule. In today's on demand world I just do not see it lasting. I do not think it will go the way of the dodo or Blockbuster, but with technology and tastes it is headed for a decline.

Well, don't confuse talk radio with news radio. It is entertainment. Some of you guys fall hook, line, and sinker for everything WLW does.

Just stop listening. 1530 is SLIGHTLY better for sports talk, as an alternative.

I'd be interested to know about those Podcasts though. Any local ones? Maybe even Bearcat podcasts?

The coaches show is podcast every week. It's only 40 minutes or so though.

I'm not aware of any other Bearcat or local podcasts, but I only listen to a few national ones occasionally so I wouldn't be the best person to ask.
