Gross. Overpriced coffee (Starbucks) and vomit-enducing sandwiches (Panera Bread).

However, if this:
Quote:...a restaurant operated by a well-known local operator that can’t be disclosed at this time.

Turns out to be a Milo's...I'll truly be envious...even though there is a Milo's just blocks away.

Well Milo's would just create the "Gross Trifecta". Talk about an overrated hamburger with spitjuice gravy or whatever the heck that is they put on those burgers.

Have you always been so ridiculously negative? I don't recall you being like this in the past, but I could be wrong

Why are people so pissy about things they don't like? Just because you don't like Milo's or Starbucks doesn't mean that having those would be nice amenities. No one will force you to eat there. Good grief. Worse than an Android vs. iPhone argument. There's room for both.

Other choices for "a local restaurant" might be Full Moon BBQ, Sneaky Pete's (since his original place was on 8th across from the Towne House in 1970), Quisnos or Subway for deli style sandwiches or some kind of cafeteria serving "meat and three" and a variety of soups. If any of these duplicate what is already nearby, it might be something else.

Maybe they can arrange a drive-through and get a Chik-fil-A.

Back in 1970, it was Pete's, The Spinning Wheel (SE corner of 20th and 8th) or bring it from home.

This comment from a poster was interesting:

This just p***es me off! I'm having to pay over $20,000 in student loans ($260 a month) just for my undergraduate from UAB and it's going to fund nonsense like video game centers and Panera Bread. Meanwhile, I can't find a "real" job in this terrible economy with my UAB degree....

It totally sucked when Sneaky Petes' on 3rd or 4th was removed.

Quisnos in Fultondale lasted only a few months before it shut down.

Maybe a Firehouse Subs would be good.

Actually, I'm not a detractor of Milo's. I do think their burgers are overrated but I wouldn't consider them to be nasty. I was more or less jabbing at demivee but he's entitled to his opinion.

I'm sure the majority of students will love Starbucks, Panera, and Milo's at the Student Center.

Are they going to close the Starbucks at the library, or will we have two Starbucks? I'm a Starbucks fan, so the more the merrier. That was my breakfast when I was at UAB.

Probably leave both open. They like to saturate a market. Near my office here in DC, there's a Starbucks every 2-3 blocks.

That really needs to happen. The bleachers being off center to the field has always annoyed me. A lot of prime seating is lost.
