Any word on how Spring Ball is going with the new staff? I assume it has started. If not, when does it start?

Practices start on March 19th. Hopefully Stoss will be there and giving us updates.

Just as an aside, Pro Day is March 17th.

Haha. I have to say it is refreshing to see actual facts for a change instead of rumors.

Thought it was funny that the Duke Dog Weekly email event blast today specifically said "no tailgating due to other events on campus" for the Spring Game. Bravo to those that have tailgated in the past and forced this to be stated explicitly - made me laugh. Maybe/hopefully they're expecting a bit more interest this year with Coach Withers and the new regime!

Its a shame that JMU still doesn't understand how big a Spring Game could be if they just treated it more like a regular game and turned on the marketing.

JMU's marketing plays out like an episode of "The Moonshiners." Only the College of Business knows how to spell the word. Anything to do with athletics thinks it means....

Has anyone tried to explain to Athletics that marketing = $$$$$?

For all the attention they give to upping pledges and gifts and donations, you'd think they'd have interest in pulling more money out of people without them even realizing it.

total guess here, but i'm wondering if the "event(s?)" they're referring to are simply tours from prospective students.

JMU's POSSIBLE thought process (i'm NOT saying i agree):

We never have that many people come to the Spring Game. If we allow tailgating, there won't be that many people doing it. When students take their tours and people are drinking within the first 200 yards of the tour (they still start at Sonner, right?), it won't be a good look for us.

I'm guessing that if we had a Spring Game that was really well attended, this might be different. why? because it wouldn't look like a couple of yokels sitting by their F-150, drinking on a Saturday morning for no apparent reason. it would be an event that's obvious to everyone, including the tour guide.

all that said..... i will also be tailgating anyway for the SG. fight the power.

I looked and it appears that Relay for Life and Madipalooza (concerts and other events on East Campus) are also on April 12th. So I expect zero students to be there for the Spring Game since those events are taking place. Too bad.

I can't remember which JMU coach tweeted it the other day, but there is apparently going to be some kind of student appreciation day on April 5th. I'm not sure if it is a school wide event, sports only, or football only but hopefully that will be something that gets students connected to the new staff.

Student appreciation day sounds really cool actually. Students are on the field with the team, taking part in drills, talking to coaches. Fun times!

I parked in p lot last year, drank and played kanjam on Godwin field, and I did not see a single person doing anything other than those that I was with. Did I miss something?

Pro Day is supposedly still happening today even with the snow. Robertson, Wells, DQ, Starke, and Stanton will all be working ouy. According to Stoss, Justin Thorpe and Jordan Anderson will also be participating.

I saw the Stoss tweet too but didn't really see anything on twitter that said they were participating. Someone wished him luck but he responded with a "thanks although I plead the fifth". I also found this which I thought was a little odd. I guess he is working on his future sideline passes.
