My homer predictions/upsets for the AAC tourney
1. Rutgers upsetting the 'ville (they have been playing well as of lately)
2. Cincy get stung by Temple
3. Memphis gets by UConn
4. Memphis plays SMU for the finals
This is my wishlist and possibly could happen...

RE: My homer predictions/upsets for the AAC tourney
Law of averages...
Memphis beats UConn...Memphis beats Cincy...Louisville beats Memphis. (2-1 against Louisville, 1-2 against Cincy, 1-2 against UConn)
25-9, Tigers get a 5 seed matched with #12 Tennessee.

I'm assuming they get an over-inflated seed....

Would love for that to happen, but I think there's a far greater chance of Rosie o' Donnell winning the Miss America pageant.
Even if Louisville sleepwalks, they'll still pulverize Rutgers. Temple might give the Bearcats some trouble, but it would be one of the greatest upsets in college basketball this year for them to win. I expect UConn to play out of their minds against us, especially after that absolutely putrid, embarrassment at Louisville on Sat.
My homer prediction is that we pull out a hard-fought, nail-biter against UConn, then manage to keep Kilpatrick in check just enough for a great win over the Bearcats on Friday. Finally, a good showing against the Ville on Saturday, but our legs wear down after brutal games on Thursday and Friday, and we lose by 10.
Should be enough for a 5 seed, but I'd much rather prefer a 6.

That's absurd. No talk on a message board about possible match-ups has any effect whatsoever on the next game.
I have never heard JP say, "We just weren't ready tonight. If those posters on that ridiculous message board would have been focused on UConn, we'd be waiting on our game with Cincy. Instead, because of them, we're sitting here wondering if we're going to make the NCAA Tournament or not. Those fans need to learn that you can't take things for granted. It would be a shame if our season ended here simply because of a few folks that don't realize the importance of each game."

Heck, we had a thread before the season started predicting the outcome of every game this season, plus the tourneys. That's what fans on message boards do.

You are correct if players existed in a hermetically sealed environment. However, in the real world they interact and thus influenced - to some degree - by fans, family, and media. We live in a "butterfly effect" world where our actions have consequences.

I would love to be optimistic and say we win the whole thing, but we can't beat Cincinnati. We are not physical enough in the paint.

Still absurd, and even if true, it would affect all teams. Therefore, we're free to discuss the next 3 games with immunity.

When our guards finally realize that they can't beat Cincinnati then we will have a chance... if they jack up every open three like they have the last two games against Cincinnati then we really will need a case of lady luck.

Cincy shot 53% from the floor and scored 90+ points...Our guards shooting 3s had little to do with those stats.
Cincy rates 256th in the country in FG%...

We don't have to be super physical inside. We just have to stop easy penetration to the basket and stay on Kilpatrick.
Defensively they do move well but they also get away with about 20 fouls per game too. Not just against us and Im not blaming the refs for our losses. If the refs called every foul Cincy committed during the games against any team they would have about 6-8 players foul out.
The way the game is called when they are on the court is different then the way games are called against other opponents.
Take the UConn game for example. We could barely touch them without being called for a foul. Then against Cincy there were tons of hacks, body bumps, grabs etc.. That were not called. (On both sides)
I'd like to see a game they play get called 100% according to the rules and see how they do.
Rules are rules, there is no inbetween.

You made an absolutist statement that outside influences have no impact and the influence - if present - has a absolutely even effect regardless of fan base intensity and involvement and comment volume (eg, KY = Praire View A & M).
Of course, you are allowed to express any opinion you wish ( within AUP confines) about the next three games, but do not pretend your comments and the collective comments of all posters have zero impact. We are all responsible for our actions resulting in consequences good or ill.

RE: My homer predictions/upsets for the AAC tourney
IMO only a fool would believe that message board discussions of future opponents can influence the outcome of the next game. If that's what you believe, by all means you should not engage in any such conversations. Or better yet, go to the UConn board and start a thread about who will win between UConn and Louisville. Maybe it will help our cause.

It is human nature to lash out with name calling rather than wrestle with uncomfortable concepts confronting a belief.

Please point out any name calling where I was a participant, and report it to the mods also. I will issue a public apology if justified.
