"Official" smofficial. The body of work it takes to win a regular season conference championship is way more than it is to win a tourney in three or four days. It's true that the tourney decides an automatic bid, but to detract from the conference title is a negative on the tourneys IMO.

I put more stock in regular season schedule when team play a round robin schedule. UC was the only team to beat everyone in the league.

I agree, but until they change it so the regular season champ gets the auto-bid instead of the tourney champ, people are going to continue to put more stock in the conference tournament. A team can go 0-30 in the regular season and winless in conference play yet still get the ultimate prize of a tourney bid if they win the 3/4/5 games it takes in a conference tournament.

I'm just telling you how it is. This isn't the BE anymore where the BE tourney was indeed the most important part of the season. It's where everyone went hardest. But nonetheless, the history of that tourney remains.
