AAC Tournament Seeding
With one game left in the season, anyone have a handle on what the AAC tournament seeding might look like. Appears Memphis is the 5th seed (I think). But I'm unsure what the rest of the bracket might look like. Can Memphis move up?

Memphis can get the 4 seed with a win and a uconn win. The bad news with that is that would put us on the same side as cincy

Agreed.

Memphis is the 4/5 regardless. It all comes down to who we play in that first game, but will likely be UConn.

If Louisville, Cincy, and Memphis all win on Saturday they will literally "flip a coin" to determine the #1 seed for the tourney between Cincy and Louisville.

Since Memphis is the 4/5 seed and would play the 1 seed in the semis, I hope Louisville wins that coin toss!

I want NO PART of Cincy again. They too tough for us.

Yep, in the scenario, I definitely want UCONN as we owe them one. I also want NO part of having to play SMU and Larry Brown 2x in a row.

Same! But, I would rather play SMU a third time than Cincy a third time.

I'm hoping Tigers beat UConn for first time to get to semis, then beat Louisville a third time to get to finals... along with SMU upsetting Cincy in semis so Memphis vs SMU for AAC tourney title.

It could happen.

I like that line of thinking. First things first, Tigers need to take care of business tomorrow. GO TIGERS!

Yep, it seems the 4/5 seed has a hard row to hoe. But, hey, this is tournament time. You got to win 'em to keep playing. I'm hoping it's UConn, then Louisville. With Cincinnati in the fianls.

None are great options in 4/5 game. If the kids had played relatively hard vs Houston, we would not be in this position assuming we can pull out a win tomorrow.

I misinterpreted something from Zagoria last night due to abbreviations for Twitter accommodation ... more detail at the link below.

No. 1 Seed in American Could Come Down to Coin Flip
March 6th, 2014 10:30 pm

Cincinnati and Louisville are now tied atop the league at 14-3 with one game to play, and it could come down to a coin flip for the No. 1 seed in next week’s postseason tournament in Memphis. Here are the postseason scenarios according to league spokesman Chuck Sullivan:

**If Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis win Saturday, we flip a coin for the No. 1 seed (between Louisville and Cincinnati). Both teams would be declared regular-season co-champions.

Those results would create a three-way tie at 12-6 between SMU, UConn and Memphis. Both Louisville and Cincinnati would be 4-2 against that collective group and they both swept every other team in succession in the standings. SMU would be the No. 3 seed, UConn the 4 and Memphis the 5.

**If Louisville and Cincinnati both win Saturday, then Louisville would get the tiebreaker if SMU beats Memphis (since Louisville would be 4-0 against SMU/UConn; Cincinnati 2-2 against that group).

Louisville is not necessarily the #1 seed if they win. Many scenarios but will likely come down to coin toss if favorites win tomorrow. 4 or 5 doesn't make any difference except which color uniform we wear.

I'm starting to think people don't read my posts! (And if that's the case, that's fine lol)

I posted in the "AAC Final Week" thread early this morning an update with all these possible seeding outcomes. Then I've seen 4 other threads pop up throughout the day about it asking the same questions.

Oh well. It's still fun to talk about.

I read your post and knew it was coin flip-my point was 4 or 5 seed is the same for any game relevant purposes.

Yes, I agree. My post wasn't directed at anyone in particular by the way. Sorry if it seemed that way.

I said this in reply to another post and I'll say it again:

"I WANT PART of Cincy. I believe in a statement someone made once: "It's hard to beat a team 3 times in the same year."

If this team is going to move up, we can't be scared of any team. That was how our 2008 squad made it so far. Yeah they were no doubt the best team we have ever had in the modern era but they never backed down. We were only 5 points away from 40-0 that year with that mindset regardless of the Rose and Cal situation."

I only want Cincy in the finals; not before. If we get them in the final; then we have beaten 2 ranked teams already.
