Glad everyone gets to see the MT fanbase's mindset immediately after clinching a regular season title.

No. Only the #1 seed is guaranteed a spot.

RE: MT wins men's basketball regular season
Let's clear this up again. In the event of co-championship situation only the #1 seed gets the automatic bid to the NIT if they don't go to the NCAA Tournament. No one else gets an automatic bid.

So, if the #1 seed goes to the NCAA tournament there is no automatic bid to the NIT for the conference.

Lastly, the NIT uses the tiebreaker for seeding purposes that the conference does to determine who that #1/auto goes to. In this instance, I'm pretty sure it's going to be Tech. So, if Tech goes to the NCAA tournament there will be no automatic bid. If they don't Tech gets the auto to the NIT.

Yeah, and then the host UTEP or Southern Miss. Have fun with that.

If my calculations are correct, LA Tech will be the #1 seed in the CUSA Tournament.

1 La Tech
2 Tulsa
3 MTSU
4 Southern Miss
5 UTEP

Looks like Southern Miss will be playing the host team in our first game. Hopefully, it won't be the last one.

Does every one of the co-champs get automatic NIT bids in the event they don't win the conference tournament?

No.

No, the toughest draw... By far... Will be USM, who will have to play the home team in their first game

How about UTEP's draw? second game is likely USM, then potentially La Tech just to reach the finals.

Is it me or does Tulsa have a favorable side of the bracket?

Are the bracketologists showing USM any love ?

24-5 D-1 games, and a 36-RPI ?

If they lose in tourney championship game ?

The double byes should help with Top Five RPI's.

In the Belt, we'd take a beating on the RPI after winning a first round game.

No. Only the #1 seed, which I suspect is La Tech.

After doing some research, it looks like that may not be the case.. If one of the top 4 wins the tournament, it gets both auto bids. If a 5 seed or lower wins the tourney, the top 4 team that advances the farthest gets the NIT auto bid.

I was hoping we would get USM or UTEP in the championship game. We don't match up well with either... imo.

No doubt MT and Tulsa win the draw. Even better, that is the one team out of the top 5 I most want another crack at.

Pretty impressive what the Top 5 teams have done vs. the rest of the league.

And every one of us took care of business on the road tonight, at opponent's senior nights.

Of course, MT fans had tight sphincters until the buzzer sounded 04-cheers

doubtful

Nope.. I believe the auto goes to the team that goes the furthest in the tournament without winning it.

Almost right. It's the top 4 team that goes the farthest period. If a top 4 team wins the tourney they get the NCAA auto bid and the NIT auto bid. So, for our league to get an NIT auto bid, a 5 seed or lower must win the tourney.

What was the tiebreaker?
Isn't MTSU 1-2 against the other 3 tied teams.
La Tech and Tulsa are 2-1. Then I would have thought Tulsa gets the nod, as they beat the next best team, UTEP.

Anyway, congrats to MTSU and the other 3. UTEP too. The rest of us pretty much blow.

No. LA Tech beat Tulsa head-to-head, thus the Bulldogs get the tiebreaker advantage.

Auto or not, someone is going to the NIT because frankly the top half of CUSA is just that good. I got 5 that someone gets in even if Tech wins the tournament.
