While we were hitting 1 of 2 FTs, they were hitting a couple of threes and a deuce at the end. Swapping 1 point for 3 is not a winning combo unless you have a big lead.

Not Right

UAB hit the most threes in 10 games and won nine of those.
Our opponents have hit the most threes in 19 games and won 11. There was one tie.

So there were 8 games where we had less threes and still won.

Good job with the math.

I actually agreed with his call tonight. Give Frazier the 4 seconds to cut through a loose defense and put up a shot instead of letting MTSU get setup and have a higher chance of throwing the ball away or getting trapped.

Frazier took a pretty good cut to towards the basket, just didn't have a good angle for the shot.

How is chad such a poor free throw shooter?

He's really not that great of a shooter at all, but he was probably the only guy on this team with one on one ability to creat his own shot or generate offense for others..

He wasn't at the beginning of the year, neither was Swing, Faz or Rob. And Rucker's had improved dramatically. As the season went on, they all went in the tank.

Scoring in Our last three games:

Charlotte 62 points
Rice - 61 points
La Tech - 58 points
MTSU - 53 points

Those are our four lowest scoring outputs of the season.

We haven't scored over 70 points since 2/15 when we lost to Tulane 86-80.

Dare I say some UAB fans are losing interest after our recent string of subpar seasons?

I really don't know what some of you expected out of this season. We have a group of seniors who have been a part of two straight losing seasons(or 1 for the two JUCOs), and coach has had to scramble to try and find guys who fit his system while still using what he was left with. If we had Watkins, this season could have been different. It was immediately evident that we had no true PG this season, and that was going to cause problems.(Do you really think all these D-1 players can't shoot? Maybe if we had a better distributor, things would have been different?)

What I see is Haase found 5 impact players(out of 6) in his first true recruiting class. Our two best players were JUCO transfers that Haas convinced to come here. Our freshmen class looks solid, and it appears they will all contribute for four years if they choose to stay. We are just a little thin depth wise, and we lack good scoring options outside of Chad and CJ.

If our freshmen come in and can contribute, I think next year we will take big strides. I expect Lee to come in and be ready to go. I think Sullivan can score at any level, not sure about the rest of his game. If Calhoun can shoot, he'll see some minutes. You have to figure Cokley will get PT with his size. If we can get Dickerson, I'll be thrilled with what we'll have next year. If not, I hope we can find another JUCO guard just in case.

Bottom line is I have always thought next year was the first year we can really start to judge Haase, and what is and isn't a disappointing season. Our record improved this year, and we hung in there with top tier teams. Yes, we lost too many bad games, but that can all be fixed in the future.

To clarify my earlier statement, In our conference games, the team that has hit the most 3 pointers has won the game, in all but 2 contests. UAB won both of those, against Charlotte and Rice.

And all season, the Blazers have hit the most three pointers in a game and lost just once, to Temple.

Hmm...that's not so much of a clarification as it is a completely different statement.

Frazier travels. Turnover.

If you were at the game, this about sums it up for Frazier's game. He got his points, but at a price that is hard to balance. Weak, lackadaisical (sp?) passes, traveling, just loosing the ball , etc and almost never setting up anybody else for a chance to score. Add to that a puny exhibition of defense and rebounding by the Foz, coupled with 2 points of offense and you have the perfect recipe for a loss when victory was certainly well within our grasp last night. Really REALLY disappointing end to that game.

Indeed, after a few jitters,, the starting 5 seniors probably played the best team offense and defense I have seen all season. Swing was playing the point and everybody did a pretty decent job.
