RE: What if? (More 2014 hoops?)
So if we win 2 CIT games does MuBar get to tout another "difficult" 20 win season?????
From a player development/recruiting standpoint I guess I`m okay with playing another game but overall playing in the CIT gets a "meh" from me. I`d rather Sander be researching HC replacements than organizing how we're going to blow $30k+ but it's whatever.
I guess I need to accept wallowing in mediocrity.

I'm kind of with you. I'm used to the postseason only being for a select few with an outstanding season. I really don't feel as if we've earned it this year. But as much as I love ETSU hoops, I'm always happy to have more games.

I view it no differently than a 6-6 team going to the Duck Dynasty Independence Bowl or the something something dot com Bowl. The games are there, we are eligible to participate, we get invited, go for it.

RE: What if? (More 2014 hoops?)
I was a huge skeptic of our participation in the CIT a few years ago, but my experiences at those games changed my mind. Those games presented some memorable moments for me (e.g, Tubbs' dunk against Ohio; watching Glover and Machado for Iona). These games create these opportunities. In addition, as BucNut stated, these extra games offer players more opportunities to improve and may provide some recruiting exposure.
I'd like to get Dr. Sander's analysis of these tournaments. He's obviously weighed the pros/cons before committing, so clearly he sees the net value for the program.
Lastly, given that we presumably play UTC, what a great opportunity to rekindle a storied rivalry and get a preview of next year's opponent. I already look forward to see Z.Mason of UTC. He's Wadood-like, averaging 18.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and almost 3 bpg.

And the 11th place team in the conference formerly known as the Big East deserves NCAA play? I like the NCAA tourney less each year and enjoy the non-NCAA tourneys more.

RE: What if? (More 2014 hoops?)
The only question I have is, if we win two games and get to that 20 win season, does Bartow then get his 20 win bonus? Because that would prove an even bigger expense.

I like this tournament because we have the opportunity (if we keep winning of course) to play schools we might never get to play or have played before (i.e., Ohio, Iona).

See I have the same thought.
20 regular season wins is very different than crawling along through conference tournaments and BS invitationals. With the increased number of games that teams play these days, 20 wins is hardly the standard like it was.
We went 20-15 a few years ago, hardly a season to write home about. Just like this one.

I have to agree with this. It seems as though the "Big Five" conferences get preferential At-Large-Bids from their political buddies on the selection comity. No doubt, this is to secure the lions share of TV revenues for the big schools/conferences. The other tournaments seem to have better match-ups with an emphasis on competition . . . rather than assuring wins and maximizing TV time for the higher seeds (big schools/big conferences).

RE: What if? (More 2014 hoops?)
Went to buy my tickets online this morning and Chattanooga is listed as the official opponent. From all the posts and rumors, I guess it was a given, but I see proof now.
Oh and hi! New gal kinda barging her way into all this. New-ish to the area and finally got to see the Bucs play in the ASun conference. Glad to see another home game this season.
