Cardinals @ Huskies predicitons and MAC tourney implications
It would appear an overwhelming likelihood that if NIU beats Ball State, Kent State will be coming to DeKalb for a first round matchup Monday. Things would change dramatically if somehow Miami-OH upsets Ohio, that would propel NIU into a likely 7 seed position and a probable matchup against Bowling Green in DeKalb. Having said that, Ball State has come so close to taking down some great teams and by no means is this a gimmee. If NIU does win and get that first round matchup at home, would you want Kent or BGSU?

Monday game would be at 7 PM per Bill Baker's broadcast unless the Women also host a game in which case the Women at maybe 6 and the men at 8:30 - or maybe move it up half an hour. He wasn't sure on that part.
Also, the Huskies will play at home if Kent loses on Friday night at Akron regardless of the BSU game.

All thanks to that Toledo game, that was a huge win.

Not sure what I was typing here, NIU would get the 7 seed if Miami-OH loses to Ohio and NIU beats Ball State. Right now, I really think it would be advantageous to get out of the 8-9 matchup because the winner of that game would more than likely get Ohio for the 1st game in Cleveland which seems to be a team NIU does not match up well against.

Prediction: NIU makes it to the MACC game and loses by 1 on a buzzer beater, but the committee is so impressed with the Huskies they give them an at large bid.

An at large bid without a play in game!

RE: Cardinals @ Huskies predicitons and MAC tourney implications
I just scooped up four tickets for this game. First basketball game for me in years. Being that it is the final game of the season and tournament seeding is in play, why is there zero marketing for this game? I was expecting to see some sort of pack the convo type banter. It is a little disappointing. I am bringing a few people with promising a good time so hopefully it does not disappoint so they will come back out again...

Probably too busy putting NU travel packages together.

It's really sad when you consider the fact that this is our best hoops season in a decade and we actually have a legitimate shot to make some noise in the MAC tournament. Unacceptable.

And honestly, I could even forgive it, if there were more to show on the football side. Neglecting basketball, and your result for football is a 5-game home schedule, one of which is against Presbyterian, that is truly unacceptable. Almost to the point where I wish I could sit down with someone at NIU and go "Office Space" on them ....."What would you say, you do here?"
Having said that, there was discussion on the main MAC board on whether a 5-12 seed could ever make a series tourney run the way its setup, and I kind of feel that's right. It would be near impossible for 5-12 to make serious noise. That would be 6 games in 8 days, yikes. I definitely understand rewarding the top 4 seeds but there has to be some happy medium here.

RE: Cardinals @ Huskies predicitons and MAC tourney implications
I scanned the net and there is basically zero mention of this game in the usual places (NIU athletics?), so pretty much like all other games. Last game and its on a Saturday so there should be at least a little something. I don't use social media but if anyone does drop a line to Frazier and/or any of the other NIU outlets. I would love to see why there is zero mention of this game. I know its late I want to see our best crowd of the season tomorrow and that isn't saying much since the bar isn't all the high. Monty is a program builder, the fans need to step up and show some support.

Anyone looking to scout the likely first round opponent Kent State, they get the national spotlight tonight on ESPN2 @ Akron. Not really sure why all last MAC games are not Saturday, seems a little unfair to me

I think you just answered your own question, ESPN2. This weekend the smaller conference tournament are in full swing. If I am not mistaken, this might be the first ESPN2 game for the MAC all season. The basketball television package is weak sauce. I don't count ESPN3 as real coverage.

Ive been really impressed with the MAC TV package, the picture quality/graphics seem very very nice. Its also nice how this has been syndicated over CSN.
