RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
All,
KSU was ranked 28th in the country headed into the MAC Tournament by Intermat, with Missouri being 9th, Northern Iowa being 11th, ODU 22nd, CMU 23rd, Ohio U 30th, EMU 44th, so if they are in 6th place after day 1, they would be 1 place out of where they should have finished, right? With that said, Tyler Small was a huge disappointment & missing Wheeler hurts because he would have had a chance to score some nice points @ 184lbs. For who were there, did Small just get out wrestled in OT or was there a questionable call?
Would have been nice to get the state champ from St V S Mary who just verballed to Ohio St. Maybe Coach Andrassy/staff could have sold the "you can start right away with Sam Wheeler gone @ 184lbs"?
McGuire @ 133lbs should get 3rd place & the 2 wrestling for 1st/2nd place were ranked well ahead of McGuire in the national rankings, so 3rd place is where he should finish.
I like DePalma's chances @ 3rd, as long as he pushes the pace early & sustains it.
157lbs, Miller just taking care of business.
165lbs - Cooper Moore from UNI who is just a freshman, seems pretty impressive. I sure hope he can beat down Harrison Hightower of OU today. Zach Toal of Missouri was the big upset here, as he was ranked 12th coming in & Moore was ranked 11th. KSU's Tyler Buckwalter beat Shaun'Qae McMurty of NIU, 8-6 in OT earlier this season @ NIU, but Buckwalter lost to Nick Becker of CMU, 5-1.
174lbs - CMU's Ottinger beat KSU's Marsh 2-1 during the dual meet, so if Marsh can get revenge/score on him, he should be in good shape.
184lbs - Tough loss by Campbell to Garringer of OU, 12-11 in the 1st rd. Did anyone get to see that live?
197lbs - Hoping Cole Baxter can get 3rd place.
HWT & 125lbs didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of doing well this weekend, unfortunately.
