Vinas gets pinned by #5 from Northern Iowa. McGuire and Small both lose in OT to Mizzou.

Miller with the pin against Northern Illinois and DePalma with the TF against N Iowa.

Buckwalter loses 4-1 to CMU at 165.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
The story of our season. Three OT losses in the quarters. Seventh place even behind EMU. Not good even without Wheeler. We'll see how it goes in the consolations. Still a lot of NCAA berths within reach.

Hardly time to throw in the towel. Lots of wrestling left.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
Vinas 125 and Campbell 184 are out. Vinas went 1-2 while Wheeler's back-up went 0-2. Miller is the only wrestler left in the championship bracket.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
Small goes 0-2... I guess we know who's spot Skonieczny will be going after next year. He lost to EMU with a 5-15 record. That's bad. Lytle is out. He went 1-2. Did I mention that Small was a big disappointment.

1. Northern Iowa 97.0
2. Missouri 89.5
3. Ohio 81.0
4. Old Dominion 79.0
5. Central Michigan 65.5
6. Eastern Michigan 50.0
7. Kent State 48.0
8. Northern Illinois 31.5
9. Buffalo 10.5

Kudos to OU. They are having a hell of a run.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
The red shirt did nothing for Small. Looking at the top of the standings is somewhat embarrassing. UNI number 1, Mizzou 2 and Old Dominion a close 4. We got more NCAA bids but they are all going to the new teams.

What's with our OT performance. We were 0 for 4 today. If we win 2 or 3 of them we would be somewhat better.

Looks like 4 NCAA slots. 125, 141, 184, 197 and HW are dead. Only 157 is a sure thing. I feel good about McGuire who needs to win one out of two tomorrow. Ditto for Marsh. DePalma must win his next match to finish fourth. No margin of error. Buckwater needs to win two tomorrow to finish third. That one is not happening.

Boy if it wasn't for the refs CMU would be undefeated.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
Small's red shirt was more for academic purposes than his wrestling. I hope he got a 4.0. Missouri and Northern Iowa have historically had stronger programs than KSU so we still need to catch up. OT performances were disappointing to say the least. We will be fortunate to get 4 to NCAAs; Small and Wheeler being the biggest losses.

RE: MAC Wrestling Tournament
All,

KSU was ranked 28th in the country headed into the MAC Tournament by Intermat, with Missouri being 9th, Northern Iowa being 11th, ODU 22nd, CMU 23rd, Ohio U 30th, EMU 44th, so if they are in 6th place after day 1, they would be 1 place out of where they should have finished, right? With that said, Tyler Small was a huge disappointment & missing Wheeler hurts because he would have had a chance to score some nice points @ 184lbs. For who were there, did Small just get out wrestled in OT or was there a questionable call?

Would have been nice to get the state champ from St V S Mary who just verballed to Ohio St. Maybe Coach Andrassy/staff could have sold the "you can start right away with Sam Wheeler gone @ 184lbs"?

McGuire @ 133lbs should get 3rd place & the 2 wrestling for 1st/2nd place were ranked well ahead of McGuire in the national rankings, so 3rd place is where he should finish.

I like DePalma's chances @ 3rd, as long as he pushes the pace early & sustains it.

157lbs, Miller just taking care of business.

165lbs - Cooper Moore from UNI who is just a freshman, seems pretty impressive. I sure hope he can beat down Harrison Hightower of OU today. Zach Toal of Missouri was the big upset here, as he was ranked 12th coming in & Moore was ranked 11th. KSU's Tyler Buckwalter beat Shaun'Qae McMurty of NIU, 8-6 in OT earlier this season @ NIU, but Buckwalter lost to Nick Becker of CMU, 5-1.

174lbs - CMU's Ottinger beat KSU's Marsh 2-1 during the dual meet, so if Marsh can get revenge/score on him, he should be in good shape.

184lbs - Tough loss by Campbell to Garringer of OU, 12-11 in the 1st rd. Did anyone get to see that live?

197lbs - Hoping Cole Baxter can get 3rd place.

HWT & 125lbs didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of doing well this weekend, unfortunately.

NIU sweeps 125, 133, 141 lbs. Missouri's #1 wrestler Houdashelt takes home the championship @ 149lbs. Miller @ 157lbs for KSU wins the MAC Championship, 9-4!

Buckwalter wins at 165 for 5th.
Marsh loses and settles for 6th against Mizzou.
OU wins at 174 via stalling and no class. I hate the Bobcats in all sports.
Baxter wins at 197 and takes 5th.

Disappointing performances from Buckwalter & Marsh @ 165lbs & 174lbs for the good guys. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the offseason in the KSU Wrestling room @ 125lbs, 141lbs, 149lbs, 165lbs, 184lbs, & HWT, as all of those spots will be up for grabs & Wheeler won't be back, Skonieczny becomes eligible, & the 3 recruits coming in. Maybe Miller moves to 165, Depalma 157, Small 149, & Skonieczny 141lbs?

Loved listening to Cox dominate Phil Wellington of OU @ 197lbs.

Why are you saying Wheeler won't be back next year?
