I love the eye design, elongation, and shading....am thinking a minor adjustment to the beak and a slight tilt forward insinuating an attack position....

I agree with PureGold and DaSaintFan.

My main complaint would be that it wouldn't look good against a black background because of the shading.

As I said stinkfist, I like it. I know from experience that it's difficult to get helpful insight from people regarding artistic vision. I would bet that your friend can tweak it himself, and come up with a great finished project by just pushing his own vision. I would like to see a full color, finished design that could be shown against a black helmet.

Let me offer an idea that you might like to run with. Why instead of an Eagle head or one coming in for the kill not have an Eagles Talon with it holding the initials USM. You could use it as a car decal just like we use the pickaxe on ours. As far as I know UTEP is the only school with just the pickaxe as its logo and it fit perfectly for our school. Play with that idea.

The only things similar are the color and the direction the logo faces. Nothing else is remotely similar.

I wonder if the court would grant a patent if we turned the logo to face left instead of right.

It seems rather busy and kind of looks a bit dated

OT: VCU just announced their new logo. It looks awesome.

I like what USM has now. No need to change what's good already.

Solution:

Just use the "USM" baseball script on the helmet.

I like the idea of using a talon as the "visual" logo. The Eagle head can only be done so many different ways, and a lot of schools have eagle heads.

I like it a lot.
