I just saw the notice that Joab Thomas, the UA President fired by the BOT because he hired FBHC Bill Curry a coach they hated, has died. Lesson? The BOT outlives its victims. Watch out Steve Sloan, the next bell may toll for thee.

Well, to be fair the University of Alabama Board of Trustees has been around since the 1830s, and I expect it to be around after I'm gone

That is the truth that they can rely upon to outlast any detractors such as those who want them to live according to the rule of state laws. As long as they can wear the cloak of "Defender of the Crimson Tide", they can flaunt the rules that others must follow.

I'm saving this and will repost every time someone suggests that Dr. Watts or Brian Mackin or their successors should stand up and raise a stink about the UAB football stadium debacle.

Rarely do you get very far by flat out confronting your boss, especially when they don't have a boss themselves.

AND they have a track record of firing even "family" - AD Steve Sloan - and their own President - Joab Thomas - over the hire of a football coach they opposed (Bill Curry).

One of the first acts of the new AD, "Hootie" Ingram, was to inform Curry that even with his 9-2 record that year, his new contract would have the "buyout" virtually eliminated. Reading the "hand writing on the wall", Curry took the first FBHC offer he got - UKY.

That a university president would be fired over the hiring of a football coach who didn't cheat, didn't lose, and didn't get you into trouble tells you everything you need to know about said university.

The real reason was he didn't beat Auburn. And that also tells you something about them.
