ESPN's BPI has us ranked 40 between Harvard and Mizzou and behind UTK at 38.

RE: ESPN Bracketology - March 3rd - Tigers an 8
Yeah, the ONLY reason the Tigers are so low is because of "lack of RPI 51-100" wins. Every other team that's comparable or seeded higher than us has more wins in this range, even though we have as many or more "better" RPI top 50 wins than them
I'm not sure what committee will look at, but we all know we are better than an 8 seed. But if we get the 8 seed, let's just go prove it. Hope the team doesn't get down if they get a seed they feel is too low. That will get them beat. Just take it, and go win. That's all they can do.
With that said... win @ Cincy, vs SMU, and make AAC tourney finals and we are NO WORSE than a 6 seed. Which might as well be a 3 seed.

It's Joe Lunardi, what do you expect? He'll fixed it so that he's around 95% right on Saturday night just before Selection Sunday so that he gets his check from ESPN and people will praise him as a genius

8 is way too low given how many big wins we have this year. 7 seems the floor to me with our resume. Houston is a bad loss but every team has a few warts. UK has 4-5 ugly losses.
Also, holy crap. UK has 1 top 25 win, against Louisville at home. That's the only tournament team they've beaten. They've also beaten UT. Their RPI is fattened by all the SEC teams 51-100 in the RPI who have no shot to make the tournament. A joke to rank them over us

RE: ESPN Bracketology - March 3rd - Tigers an 8
Also, just saw Kentucky is STILL ranked at 25. What a joke.
And AAC teams are...
Louisville #11 (dropped from #7 after loss to Memphis)
Cincy # 15 (dropped from #11 after loss to UConn)
SMU #18 (up FIVE spots after beating UCF this week?)
UConn #19 (from out of polls to #19 after beating USF and Cincy)
Memphis #20 (up ONE spot after losing @ Houston, and beating Louisville)
We have FIVE teams ranked #11 to #20 and ALL within 2 games of each other, and they have ALL beat up on each other. The ONLY reason these teams are seeded higher than Memphis is number of RPI 51 - 150 wins. Memphis has 2. Everyone else has many more than that.
But with that said, we still control our seed because all wins from this point are top 50 RPI wins. I'm thinking if we win out we get a 5 seed. Lose out and get a 10. Win 2 or 3 more, and we 6/7/8 depending on how it all goes with everyone else.
Losing to UConn twice is really hurting us, more than beating Louisville twice actually. And losing to Houston hurt. Cincy and Louisville still don't have a loss outside RPI top 50. Tigers do now in Houston, who is actually up to RPI 147 now.

Someone enlighten me, please. When he or ESPN says he gets 95% or 98% or whatever right are they talking about him getting the teams right or teams and seeding?

I think it means "teams" right. He misses on seeding quite a bit in the past if I recall.

I've always wondered. By Saturday night before selection Sunday, there really aren't too many choices left to make teamwise. I think I could get between 90% and 95% right.

http://bracketmatrix.com/rankings.html
Quote:Using the final results from past matrices, each site was graded based on a scoring system made by Paymon at PHSports. This rubric awards 3 points for each team correctly picked, 3 points for each team correctly seeded, and 1 point for each team not seeded correctly but was plus or minus one seed line (to compensate for procedural moves the NCAA does to make the bracket). With 68 teams, a perfect score is 408. The variance section of the data table below lists the absolute deviation between each score and the mean for that particular year. Thus, a 10 point variance means that site's bracket scored 10 points higher than the average bracket that year.
So Lunardi averages about 35th best

St. Louis (4) and Kentucky (6) both loses twice to unranked teams in the past week do not fall one seed line from the previous week. You know we would be put in the play-in game if that ever happens. UK's best win is UL who we have beaten twice now and we're an 8?
F.Y.I. Lunardi is best at picking the right 68 teams but horrible at seeding and bracketing.

Really? How much of a monetary windfall did they generate last year in their first round NIT loss?

He didn't move Memphis up after beating #7 and didn't move UConn either after beating #11, yet he has Kentucky as a 6 seed after their joke losses? That is completely idiotic. Memphis and UConn resumes are much more in line with 5/6 seeds and UK (with their 1 good win) is lucky to be on the right side of the bubble.

We'd have a much better case because of our quality wins except for the likes of AP, Nichols St, NW St, UALR, SEMO, Jackson St, & LO. We're just not going to get much love with that many cupcakes. That's 7 games that hurt bad, over 20% of our schedule. JP & the AD have to do a better job on schedule & season ticket holders would appreciate it too. More importantly it would greatly improve our seeding.

Lunardi is probably seeding based upon the RPI or BPI numbers. Which is why some things look jacked.
He has Ok St as an 11 seed (because their rpi is 44). They will not be an 11 seed. It would be completely unfair to a team who earns a 6 seed to have to play someone of OK St's caliber as their first game. I bet Ok St will be a 6/7 seed, as the committee will completely discount the three losses without Smart.
It looks like Joe has faced the music and moved the number of Big East at-larges down to 3 teams versus the 5 he had.

F.Y.I. Lunardi is best at picking the right 68 teams but horrible at seeding and bracketing.
These are Ky's Top 100 wins besides a home court win vs Louisville:
48 Tennessee 74-66
50 @Missouri 84-79
54 Boise St. 70-55
55 Neutral Providence 79-65
59 Belmont 93-80
61 LSU 77-76
83 Clev. St. 68-61
84 Georgia 79-54
86 E. Michigan 81-63
92 Ole Miss 80-64
92 @Ole Miss 84-70
94 @Vanderbilt 71-62
No way this resume is better than the Tiger's or that of a number 6 seed but I bet the knuckle head committee will ignore these very questionable wins and talk about how many Top 100 wins KY had. Bad losses not even mentioned. Any loss in SEC besides Fla, road loss to ARKY (and possibly @UT and @ Missouri) would not be considered bad losses for a six seed.
