Quirk in the Schedule
Never really thought about this when the schedules were released, but if you look at the five teams vying for first place, Middle Tenn is the only team that has to play a RPI 150 or better team twice. To earn our third straight regular season championship we're going to have to go into Bartow - a place we have never won - to get a share of the title.

All three of our losses came from three of those other four frontrunners. We didn't lay any turds and lose to any of the subpar programs in the league this year. It's also fascinating that all five of us have to go on the road Thursday. It's just a bit of a bad break that our road is just a hair tougher than some of the others. Here's a look at who plays whom and the RPI...

MT: @UAB (139)
Tulsa: @UNT (180)
USM: @Tulane (219)
LTU: @Rice (299)
UTEP: @UTSA (301)

RE: Quirk in the Schedule
I honestly do think the schedule makers expected UAB to be in the top 4 teams fighting for double byes making the MTSU @UAB game a top tier game but alas we dropped some games in conference that we had no business losing to. (If anyone wants to argue I can show you all time vs rankings for those teams)

There are only 4 teams vying for first place right now. UTEP cannot get to either 1 or 2 since Southern Miss and Tulsa won today. I guess they could get into a tie, but that's it.

Brilliant scheduling having all the preseason favorites on the road for the final game. Guess the league didn't want teams celebrating a regular season championship on their home court.

Are you talking about seed in the tournament, because UTEP can share the conference title if everyone else loses (though extremely remote still statistically possible)??

I'm just talking about a championship. We're all pretty much playing for a tie, but a co-championship is still a championship. The more rings the merrier I guess.

I hope the men learn to spell 'tournament championship'

the women know the word pretty well.

Might be wishful thinking. I have a feeling we're going to be looking at no championships regular season or tournament.

UAB will be good practice for us though. One and done. You either win and get a championship or you don't. The way it should be.

They need a reality check. Too many times we've gone about it just like "Oh, guess we'll win something. Oh well let's not want to play together."

Agreed re: women. They know what they're doing. Men don't half the time.
