Actually there are about 4-5 years where I'm a complete blank on who actually played for us from the end of Joplin to the start of Coach K. There was such a revolving door.....

Centers - Kareem Milson, MoLo, Allan Pinson, Justin Anyijong, Zac Taylor, Jordan Dressler, Ian Salter, Devin Russell, Delino Dear, Richard Wonnell...

I remember that Pinson had a great game against Duke as a freshman but unfortunately that was probably his career highlight. He showed just enough to let you know the potential to be a great one was there, but it never got beyond just a small glimpse every now and then. I remember that the transfer from West Virginia (whose name eludes me a the moment) cold cocked him (over a disagreement during practice?) and I think that may have been the end of him. I am fuzzy on this but I seem to recall that he may have had some emotional problems or something like that which he was never able to surmount while on the team----too bad because if he had achieved his potential as a player he might have even made to the UT hall of fame . Anyway, I hope everything eventually came together for him off the court at least.

Anyijong was so thin he could just turn sideways and defenders couldn't see him.

Biggest memory of Anyijiong was his buzzer beating tip-in at CMU to end an inexplicably long road losing streak during his freshman year. And for being like the only player Coach K held onto. And for being used as the backup PG by that other coach we had, when he's like 6'10".

Lo had one game in his career where he put it all together and had a 20-18 game or something like that, at home, but seemed to get out-hustled often. He was awful at free throws and tried to improve by shooting them sideways. I too was not aware of his transfer until this topic.

I'd completely forgotten about Jerrah Young and thought it was Lo who fought with Pinson. I just remember our local newspaper mentioning it had happened but not saying much about it.

Yeah, it's nice to have Boothe now.

Don't recall winning ANY road games Justin's frosh year (CMU beat us by 15 at Rose) but I remember the tip in at the buzzer against UMass in the first game at the revamped Savage Arena. We had just come off a long OOC road trip due to Savage not being finished and Justin put back a miss with no time left for the first win of the Cross era....errrr, minute.

Yeah, you're right. I did some actual research and it was actually Ridley Johnson (now there's a blast from the past) who hit that buzzer beater I was thinking of, in 2006. I should have known because it was not typical for Anyijiong to ever cross the 3 point line in the offensive end. Except for that one night at Savage Arena.

How any coach could inherit a senior class of Kent, Amos and Johnson and only win seven games is beyond me. Ridley never lived up to his potential but he had some moments.

Once Tino and and Ingram graduated, those guys were the glue. The rest of the equation fell apart on the coaching side. Miserable recruiting, horrible coaching and a revolving door of borderline DI players. We've come so far in a very short time
