UK pressure finally getting to Calipari
Saw this on CatsPause. Agree with them - Calipari is starting to crack under the intense pressure and frustrations of the last couple of years. Of course, he is the one who sold them the dream of routine dominance and national championships. After observing him for several years, my own theory is that, since he finally won the championship he so longed for, he no longer has that intense drive - this, combined with the unending UK scrutiny/pressure and possible health problems. He looks like his hip is causing him a lot of pain. He is also older than he was when he led UMASS and came to Memphis - he is two months younger than me and I certainly don't have the energy or ability to handle stress that I had at 35 - 40.

From a layman's perspective, Calipari does not look healthy. Given his age, riches, accomplishments, and possible health issues; he may end up retiring and take a broadcast job rather than pursue an NBA coaching position.

Agree. I don't see him going to the NBA either. It's a lot easier sitting on the sidelines telling everyone how players should play - much tougher to make it actually happen.

Not sure whether he no longer has that intense drive- but he certainly no longer has Anthony Davis playing against college kids.

Saw this post:

Quote:When your players are trying to drive to the basket and the refs just sit there without calling fouls....its ridiculous.

Our players did try to cause foul trouble for sc. But the refs just blatantly looked the other way when UK was getting fouled at different times in the game.

Kentucky shot 42 free throws.

Cal is an average bench coach. Two years ago he had a core of players decent players. He added a group of one and done players and got the brass ring. Since then he has had massive turn over after turnover of players. He just doesn't have a floor general with experience. Relying too much on one and done players has come back to bite him in the ass.
