Completely deserves a 1 seed, it's hard to win every game, as we all well know.
But good luck trying to predict what they'll do in the tourney. They're 3-0 vs top 50 with those wins against BYU, UTK, and Saint Louis.
Ghastly. They've played one definite tourney team and 2 bubble teams

RE: Wichita State
I think they proved themselves last year. The problem this year is what happens when they get into a close game?

Look, I used to live in Wichita, and I love the Shox. But no way they deserve a 1 seed. It's up to Marshall to schedule some quality non-conference games if he wants to have that kind of tourney resume.

RE: Wichita State
If the Miami Heat played Wichita State's schedule, hey would be undefeated. And while the schedule may not be as tough as an ACC schedule, the team running through it should be judged on how good they are.
And Wichita State is really good.

We as Memphis fans should be able to relate to Wichita St better than anybody else. Don't forget all the pundits used to say the same stuff that they are saying about them. Anyone who believes they aren't a 1 seed needs to rethink that thought

They didn't play one ranked team all year. Their schedule is an absolute joke and they won't get past the sweet 16

How did their schedule compare last year when they made the final 4?

Not a valid comparison, in my opinion. In 07-08, when we ran through CUSA, we played a crazy good non-conference schedule, including: Oklahoma, UCONN, Georgetown (#5), Arizona (#17), Gonzaga, and (of course) UTK (#2). Greg Marshall is a great coach. But in 7 years as HC at Wichita State, even though he has a good reputation, he continues to schedule cupcake teams out of conference. Just because he can't get KU to play him doesn't excuse his refusal to play other quality teams. That's on him. And it makes a 1 seed very questionable.

I'm not talking about 07/08 as there was very little discussion that we were a1 seed that year. I'm taking 05/06. Other than Gonzaga and that early tournament who did we beat? People said the same thing about us that we didn't deserve a 1 seed and that we weren't going to make it out of the second round. Heck some even said we would be the first 1 seed to lose to a 16. So yes it is a valid comparison. Wichita St can only play those that are in their conference they can't fix that. If somebody want to add them to their conference they would go in no time.
They played and beat st Louis and they beat a Tennessee team that really isn't that good but that Tennessee team beat the ACC champs by 35

RE: Wichita State
05-06 Tigers: #14 Alabama (won 87-76), #16 UCLA (won 88-80), #1 Duke (lost 70-67), #8 Gonzaga (won 83-72), #15 Texas (lost 69-58), UTK (won 88-79).
13-14 Shockers: Nobody.
There are other ways to play great teams besides getting into a new league. We proved that when we were in CUSA.
And Marshall isn't some young, untested Pastner trying to schedule quality OOC games. He's a proven winning coach (see Mark Few). If he wants better competition, he can get it. He clearly doesn't want it for some reason.

RE: Wichita State
You guys are all completely misinformed. Wichita State's schedule this year was on par with opponents of teams like Louisville, Gonzaga, Purdue, Pittsburgh, and not too far off that of Syracuse, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Arkansas, Saint Louis, etc.
Don't believe the misinformation pumped out by big sports media. It's complete bovine excrement.

I can relate. But the fact remains that we at least made an effort at scheduling some good non-conference games. For the most part, we always played a decent OOC schedule.
And I don't buy that nobody will play them.

they were supposed to be in a neutral site game at Jerrys Palace in Dallas .. NOBODY would play them. Jerry had to find two more teams ... They have a standing offer to play any major team home and home with the first game being at the other team's home first, NOBODY would play them. They schedule Alabama and UTK -- how were they to know that they would both suck (btw utk beat the ACC champs by 30pts)
Anybody that thinks that an undefeated team ranked #2 in the country that made the final four last year does not deserve a #1 seed is a small minded person, if that person is a coach that refused to schedule Witchita St then they are a hypocrite too.

RE: Wichita State
Its hard to figure out at this point who is going to get the 4th #1 seed, but it won't be Wichita State
Thats because they are one of the top 3 that have it locked up right now. Florida, Arizona and Wichita State
Wichita will 100% get a #1 seed because Kansas just lost #7, Syracuse just lost 3 out of the last 4, Villanova really isn't very good, and Wisconsin has more work to do although if 'Cuse and Kansas lose again they may get the 4th #1 seed
While you can argue that Kansas, Syracuse, or Wisconsin is #1 seed worthy, you can't argue at this point that any of them should get it over Wichita State

They still have to win the MVC tourney. Schedule or not they couldn't do any better than they did this year.
I am beginning to think Virginia might end up with a 1 seed.
