Just because he can't get KU to play him doesn't excuse his refusal to play other quality teams. That's on him. And it makes a 1 seed very questionable.
WSU's non conference SOS was 34th this year which is very good actually.

Many of the "cupcake" games you mention are not even under Marshall's control.
Davidson - Bracketbuster's return game
Hall of Fame Classic - Tennessee State
Hall of Fame Classic - William and Mary
Hall of Fame Classic - Depaul
WSU could not find *ANY* decent opponent for a neutral court game which is why they did not play in the tipoff classic in Dallas and had to play a div 2 instead.

I give credit to Wichita St for winning every game, and for winning them in decent fashion. They are not simply skating by some morbidly bad teams like St Louis was doing. They are beating them, and beating them handidly.
The MVC was one of the RPI manipulating conferences, and you can tell from Wichita's OOC schedule, they were operating in that mode. Very winnable games against teams who would likely have an rpi around 50. Of course, this was all they needed back before the MVC got pilfered. Now their conference rpi blows, and they are living off of their OOC wins, which really aren't that stellar.
The rpi manipulating days are over. Wichita St will have to start scheduling some meat in the OOC. They will get penalized by the committee if they don't. They wont get penalized this year, but going forward that type of OOC schedule will take its toll.
The MVC members other than Wichita St have a 2-28 record against the RPI top 50. That is morbidly bad, and far worse than the years Memphis was in CUSA.
Again, I take nothing away from their winning streak. That's tough to do no matter who you play, as we all know. But the days of avoiding true top 25 teams in their OOC will come to an end after this year, or they will get smacked for it.
