Nagging injury and he has not ever really been a demonstrative guy.

For four years now whenever another player does well- many of you have used that as a hammer against Joe. Really incredible really.

Antonio Barton should start.
Chris is really the man over Joe.
Charles Carmouche is the real leader.
Geron is really the man over Joe.
Michael Dixon playing well has Joe down.
Chris Jones will torch Joe.

And all the time- for 4 years- Joe has simply been steady, improved his game every year, and like every good player in the country- has had a few off games. And the what is wrong garbage starts again. In a down game- he added 5 rebounds from the guard position- and was one of the main defenders on Chris Jones- who, last I checked, was a complete non factor today.

I asked a legit question and leave it up to you to go in another direction. Lately there is obviously something troubling Joe Jackson but all you wish to do is smooth it over with your usual Blue Kool-Aid.

This isn’t garbage (as only you can put it), it’s an honest question.

I think JJ's hurt. He short-armed some free throws today. An injured hip would certainly play into that.

I do too...wish we could rest him before the tourney...but that's not gonna happen.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking the hip flexor too but also thought he appeared ill with something like the flu or the stomach virus that’s been going around.

I hope JJ works it out.

Everybody knows he has had a great year; the concern is about his play and body language of late. Even his free throw shooting has gone sour.

The statement was that he becomes disinterested in team success. The fact that he continues to make assists (more than Dixon, BTW) shows that to be untrue..

I think some folks on here WANT there to be drama and infighting on the team

Pastner and Co just beat the top ten ranked defending national champions with a HOF coach. What posts do we get? "Well, uhhhh, I think Joe hates Dixon and is a pouty little ***** over Dixon's greatness".

Seriously, are some of y'all SO DAMNED MISERABLE or hate this coach and team so much that you cannot even enjoy a win over Louisville?

He's been a scorer his whole life. Even though he's got great assist numbers his shooting % and 3pt % are down this year. When a scorer isn't scoring, they believe their game is off.

Joe always turns it on during the conference tournament. If he struggles at that point, I'll be more concerned.

It will work itself out. Joe is a champion.

RE: What's Up With Joe?
If it is true that Joe is hurt and has been playing that way then I feel like a complete and utter pile of sh!t. This is the first I am hearing of an injury to Joe. I hope for his and our sake this is not the case. The fact of the matter is we need him to be playing his best ball. With out him I don't see good outcome for us. I have been hard on him,but only because I know he is alot better than quite a few of his performances.

Joe is not injured.

Hopefully he starts to play better, but he's not hurt.

I'm thinking he's ill with a cold or flu, myself. Looked low-energy, compared to how he usually plays. Sort of how Nichols looked a couple of weeks ago. Feeling good or not, he was out there, giving what he had - kudos to him.

Joe strained his hip flexor. He definitely has an injury. He has missed practice for the 1st time in his career because of it.

I'm not saying this is why he has struggled, but it could very well be. Either way, to say Joe isn't hurt is inaccurate.

RE: What's Up With Joe?
Joe had/has a hip flexor.

Not enough to stop him from playing at all- but a nagging injury nonetheless.

Enjoy the big win yesterday!!

RE: What's Up With Joe?
Joe had a hip flexor roughly a month ago. He missed one practice. That was before the Gonzaga game too.
He's fine. He's just not playing well.

RE: What's Up With Joe?
If it means that much to you to - then sure- hip flexor completely irrelevant. Since no one is using that as an excuse- just pointing out that he did indeed have a nagging injury- and no one is arguing he has not had- for him- a few sub par games- not sure why this is so important.

The more painful part is the ready to pounce mentality that so many fans have held onto for four years with him. Instead of focusing on the TEAM winning in a dramatic manner- there is focus on Joe being pouty, never having learned a thing in 4 seasons, having no heart, and a lot worse etc...

Not posting here that you have been spewing all that same hateful rhetoric- but you surely know it has been far too prevalent- and adopting a rigid, steadfast refusal to ever allow for anything to possibly affect Jackson in even the most minor way- plays into it to a small degree. With mega bashing aimed at him going on in thread after thread- responses to that will come up. It is pitiful

Certainly the single most over analyzed critiqued bashed on player who will go down as one of the better players in the history of Memphis basketball.

Joe isn't finished. Just like Chris came out of his funk, so can Joe. The team will need him too if they want to win at Cincy and make a run. You can't continue to win big games with two of your main players not playing good and not scoring much. Yesterday, both Shaq and Joe didn't play well.

I think Joe will play well from here on out.

Yesterday, Shaq didn't play well at all offensively but he contributed big time in other areas and had some huge rebounds.

Shaq was a great example of how you can still make an impact even if you're struggling offensively.
