His results the past two years have been a complete joke.
Let me break it to you. Cal cant coach. He can recruit NBA talent, and then he hopes they can go uber-aau through the tournament.
You might have noticed that Kentucky looked a hell of a lot better when Robic took over today.
Let me break this to YOU. Cal is a probable hall of fame coach with a national championship and a guy who got this program to heights we've never seen.
If Pastner has HALF the success that Calipari has had, he'll have had a helluva career. Like him or not, he's had a tremendous career as a college basketball coach.
Save your BS for someone else.
Heights we've never seen?????? Put down the bottle you have had enough.
Look, I'm not a huge Cal fan but we've never, ever had the kind of consecutive elite 8 then champ game run before. Not before Cal. It's just a fact.
No more impressive than the five straight tourney appearances in the 80s.
Yes it is. Elite 8, Elite 8 then championship game in 3 straight seasons. 104 victories in that time span is the most in NCAA history.
That's way more impressive.

Cal is a weak bench coach. Most of his success has been due to his talent level. Kirk with the same team would have gone undefeated and would have beaten KU by 15 in the finals.
I agree with your Dana Kirk analogy. Dana was a much better coach then Cal. Much better. What do you think Dana would do with Josh's teams? Miles and miles and miles better would be my thought.
By the way, Memphis had 104 victories in a 3 year period under Cal. That's the most in NCAA history for the same time period. Elite 8, Elite 8 and championship game in succession. Never been done here before.
The NCAA also took 38 of those wins away.
Cal is a proven cheater. Kirk is a proven cheater. Josh is well known as a clean guy. This might not matter to some on here but it does to me.

I am not a Cal fan, however, he's hasn't been proven a cheater. He is a clean as a bar of soap officially in the NCAA's eyes.

Me too Transit - it is all part of coaching. Some (incorrectly) take a less holistic view of the head coaching position.

Me too. It has been great not being accused of cheating....even though some still see us as a cheating program because of coaches like Cal and Kirk.
Tanya, I do agree that others see us as a cheating program because of Dana and Cal. Absolutely.
That's Josh's biggest attribute, he's projected a clean image here and we did need that.

I don't miss the big games that were choked away, such as 1 vs. 2 Tennessee game and the National Championship game. You thought the Houston loss the other night was depressing? How about seeing Tennessee beating you on your own home floor and become the No. 1 team in the nation because of it. Now, that was embarrassing.

UK is the biggest disappointment in college hoops ... for the second straight season. RT @EyeOnCBB: South Carolina 72, Kentucky 67. Final.
And another hot-tempered, wuss coach sends his asst and players to do the post game presser.
Here is what the local Lexington beat writer has to say about Johnny:
Quote:3. John Calipari let his team down. The coach got ejected with 10:23 remaining, the third of three technicals called on the UK bench. He spent most of the game screaming at his players or the officials. Lot of screaming, not much coaching.
It's tragic that many here will go against good reason to defend this guy's every move as genius when there is so much dissatisfaction with Johnny's antics in Lexington.
Might I suggest you go log in to a Catpiss board and reassure the UK masses of Cal's greatness?
SMH.

Just face it. Calipari has had the #1 and #3 ranked preseason teams in the nation the past two years. Last year was a first round loss in the NIT. This year is Mike Andersons ***** and he just lost at South Carolina. A chimpanzee can coach a team of NBA first rounders to a national championship. Only a sorry ass bench coach can take the talent he has had and make them look like a rec league team.

cal is and will be universally considered a cheater and a shady character. he did not get our program to heights we have never seen. we were great before him and will be great after him. vacated man. he has a record for vacated wins. gene chizik has a national championship and never had game vacated because of cheating. he had a national championship in a more important sport on a bigger stage. the idea that cal will be in the hall of fame is more absurd than chizik. cal is national punch line. google calipari cheating, i promise you will get more hits that calipari hall of fame.
pastners story in its first chapter. he was handed a mess and has had a ton of success. he is a first class act all they way and his legacy with be overshadow cals. i just hope he does it here.
save us the bs.
Wanna bet on that? The Chizik/Cal thing? If you do I'm all in. Put your money where you mouth is my man.
there is nothing to bet, you missed the point. one man won a MNC in football (you know, the sport that really effing matters) and never had a game vacated the other won a mnc in bball and has a national reputation as a cheater andhas had final fours vacated at 2 schools. yet somehow people think he is some kind of coaching wizard. hell with the talent he had i could win bball games. good grief man. everything cal wins, everything he touchs is tarnished. the only people that respect him are a handful of love sick tiger fans and a bunch of totally sick in the head ky fans, and they are turning on him fast.
he choked away the nc here, many of his best wins didnt even count, left us on probation and embarrased the school and still there are some that think he is a genius. its laughable.

If you check out Catspause, it will be obvious that a whole lot of the former "In Cal I trust" Kensuckians are openly and hostilely saying he CAN'T coach.
He choked away our NC game. I would say he is about to go AWOL on the hillbillies like he did us. They are turning against him in droves. He gets tossed....hmmm, I'm seeing a pattern.
