In UC and UConn game Cronin gets into argument with Valentine about call. Cronin was hot for sure and was being held back. But at one time Valentine was almost 8 feet away from coach and HE was the one who rushed over and got into the face of Cronin. The ESPN morons were talking about how great Valentine handled the situation. If the official jumps in the face of the coach then it is NOT handling the situation correctly.

I like how big shot Cronin shoved his assistant out of the way. Classy.

Cronin looked ridiculous. Way to set an example thug. Valentine had no business getting in his face like that though

Cronin takes his little shtick too far. He's making a caricature out of himself.

RE: Ted Valentine
I noticed another ref stand between Valentine and Cronin. It looked like the ref's intent was to prevent a fight. It does not reflect well on Valentine who should be above the fray and not part of it.

Heat of the moment. It happens.

Cronin indicated that he and Valentine are actually friends. Thought that was interesting. I think Valentine quickly realized he was wrong for confronting Cronin that way, hence no technical.
Cronin also said he didn't want Valentine to take too much criticism for what happened, which I thought was cool. Conversely, Cronin also said that Mike K. and Jim Beoheim would never be confronted that way, which is probably true.

That game reminded me why I hated watching Big East basketball in the late 80's, early 90's, while folks down here were up tempo, high scoring yet with some great defense being played and then refs like TV Teddy effed it up.

Lots of things happen in the heat of the moment that requires discipline. If he shoved a player out of the way like that, "it happens" wouldn't be an allowable excuse. The Rutgers coach can vouch for that.

What other job can your supervisor shove you out of the way when he is pitching a tantrum?
