Basketball vs Football
My apologies in advance if this has been discussed in another forum somewhere, but how do you guys and gals rate the coverage of Ed Miller and basketball to that of Harry and football?

I would give Ed Miller a passing mark but no better than a D+ or maybe a C - for his basketball coverage.

I think Harry seems to do better with the overall inside story. From recruiting to background stories, along with human interest and overall coverage of the season and off season reporting. I would give Harry an A- I think there is still room for improvement.

Let me also mention that most of Harry's stories are well prepared and good information because he has a good relationship with staff and members of the Sports Information office. I appreciate his hard work and I think he has done a very good job for Old Dominion Football.

In my opinion, Harry is awesome and we're really lucky to have someone of his caliber covering the Monarchs. He isn't content with simply covering the games and some of the bigger personalities. He actively looks for new, interesting angles. I would put him up against anyone.

I think Ed does a good job overall. He just isn't the pit bull that Harry is. I think Ed is more content to just "report" rather than really becoming invested in the program. I don't really sense a passion for ODU from Ed. He's doing his job, doing it well, but not really going out of his way.

If I had to rate the VP staff, it would be:

Harry > Ed > Just Anyone off the street > Molinaro.

Agreed. It's not fair to Ed to compare the two. Football offers a lot more opportunities for stories than any other sport purely due to the size of the program. The new stadium and level of play offer even more for Harry to work with.

Harry is the best. For me it is because of the spirit with which he writes. He gets the "heart" side of the game right, in part I think, because he played football and like most of us wanted to see ODU bring football back. That being said I added to the "greater than" already posted because of my strong feelings on another writer at the Pilot.

Harry > Ed > Just Anyone off the street > the French > people who don't like sports at all > dead people > Zombies > Molinaro. 04-chairshot
