Denver did that same thing multiple times in the game and never even got whistled. The first few calls were very questionable too. Then you have the linesman being lazy and not getting out of the way and essentially providing a pick for their guy to get a breakaway which resulted in a penalty against us.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The officiating in this league is very much homer to the former WCHA teams. I've been to 8 games this season and seen it in every single game against a former WCHA team

It doesn't help at all when the fans boo the refs before the game even starts. Great way to get them on our side. It might be fun for the kids but the team gets screwed.

lol WHAT? Every school does that. Murray rides the refs really hard... always has... almost to an embarrassing level. That probably hurts more than the Lunatics.

I didn't notice a whole lot of non-calls on DU and maybe 1-2 of WMU's might have been borderline.

I thought LaPorte's was a definite 5. The guy was nowhere near the puck and LaPorte went hunting for someone to hit.

We didn't play too poorly, we just couldn't score on one of the nation's best goalies.

In the early first period a Denver guy nailed one of our guys from behind right at the blue line and wasn't called. That hit was way worse then the Laporte hit. Our guy was defenseless and the puck was gone. It was super dirty. Then less then 2 min later we go in the box for a casual bump in the corner.

WMU is all but done,to many penalties in the blue collar system with no Power Play.

WMU had some very good looks on the pp, they just shot it right into his glove. 03-banghead

Brittians good, but even so, puck luck was also very much on his side last night

It's still a little to early to throw in the towel Nut 05-nono

RE: Friday Denver game thread
Booing the refs is a terrible idea unless called for. I've said it before, and the refs have screwed us over this season semi-regularly. LaPort's 5 minute major came about because the DU player saw the hit coming, then dished it off while turning his back on the forechecker. It's a p**sy play that all too often results in injury and this kid is glad to be walking because LaPorte eased off the hit at the last second. When they turn away from the hit they honestly deserve a suspension for putting themselves at such risk. Just drop low and keep your helmet to the boards or whatever you want to do, don't turn away like a child who can't see something so they think it's not there.

Regarding the ref who hip-checked our defensman, resulting in a breakaway: Yes, he should have been more deliberate and decisive with his body language instead of doing a stutter step with a head fake. But tonight, Bill showed that we need to cheer when the inmates in black and white step on the ice. We Lunatics have carrots and sticks, yet we only use sticks, and the refs only use whistles, against us. Even when it's a sketchy call, they group up together, and invariably we get a 5 min major and game misconduct. There must be a league directive to 5-min-major hits from behind, as we've taken maybe eight of them this year, even though almost none of them were very vicious. Murray uses plenty of sticks with the refs and hopefully he brings a bag of carrots for them that we don't see.

Finally, when you have a 95%+ open net, always take the shot. The puck's on your stick already. It's simple, don't pass it, even if it will help a teammate become #1 in the country in shorties (or so I heard). Ah well, Go Broncos! 5:3 odds we'll win tonight, I'd take either side of the bet.

Not really. Neither DU or CC fans boo the refs before the game.

Refs are human, too. They may suck but we shouldn't be giving them ideas by booing them before they've screwed up a single call.

Does anybody have an idea of what radio station might broadcast tonight's game? I need a feed and wmubroncos.com does not list radio for the game.
