Yeah, but generally, if there are no real expectations built up, a school will wait until a coaches contract expires and with FAU's new stadium, new bowl game preparation, etc. I doubt they would have a lot of extra money to throw around for no reason. They aren't FIU afterall. 05-stirthepot

The bowl game doesn't cost FAU any money.

Time is money and I'm sure there is a lot of work to do around putting on a game as far as logistics, media and administration are concerned.

OK, but that's only if you believe that the bowl game is a waste of time. If you think it's a good thing for the school, than spending time on it is an investment for the University.

The game is run by a Bowl committee and ESPN owns the bowl. FAU is hosting the game like they would host any other event in the stadium. I'm sure that their operations, marketing, and ticketing staffs are each involved in some capacity, but none of those things would take away funds from what they could pay a basketball coach more so than hosting a soccer game or a concert would.

FAU is getting a ton of advertising in exchange for that work

Ben Braun at Rice from several accounts.

The Parliament will look like Kiev if Braun keeps his job.
