Maybe if my response is typical then maybe it's time to reconsider the name. Just because I don't respect the name doesn't mean I don't respect the accomplishment.

He was the reason the conference exists. Don't be the newbie who walks into the house and doesn't wipe his feet and leaves dishes everywhere. Show some respect to the tradition of your new home.

(that was on purpose, it was my UAb and ULL shot at WKU)
You can expect that they will increase their lead if they finish second in both men's and women's basketball, which they are on pace to do.
Depends how things finish. They'll increase over the rest of you losers, but their lead over ASU wont really change since we're leading in Women's and just a game behind WKU in Mens.
THERD PLACE ROOLZ.
Sorry, couldn't resist haha

I thought the SBC factored in the conference tournaments in some way?

The only conference tournaments that are included in the Bubas Cup totals are the ones in which there is no regular season conference schedule, such as the track & field sports, tennis and golf. Re:
SCORING: Points for the Bubas Cup are awarded based strictly on regular season finish for sports that have a regular season conference schedule. Points are awarded based on Sun Belt Championship finish if that sport does not have a regular season conference schedule

You're probably recalling the WAC where UTSA got the baseball points they didn't deserve, last year

Alright. I'm a nerd and keep score at home. Was waiting until the tournament ended to see how the scoring was. Thanks for the facts.

Vic Bubas is in the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
As a coach he was the first to take Duke to the NCAA title game, first to the Final Four, first to take them to the Sweet Sixteen. Before he arrived Duke had one NCAA Tournament appearance.
As commissioner of the Sun Belt he was the first to sign a deal with ESPN for the conference tournament. When the Sun Belt was gutted by the Metro and Great Midwest, he used his influence within the NCAA to craft the saving deal even though he had actually retired. He convinced the NCAA to agree that if an existing conference would completely absorb the league, the new league would keep all the units earned by the Sun Belt along with the units earned by the other league. That led to the American South agreeing to take the Sun Belt over.
He wasn't just the first commissioner, the reputation and respect he held within the NCAA is the only reason we are talking on the Sun Belt board rather than the American South board.

Outdoor track and field will determine the winner this season. Western has a major leg up as they won the women's indoor track and field and finished second in the men's. South Alabama is the only school with a realistic chance of catching WKU, but they didn't do well in the indoor t&f, so it's unlikely they beat the Hilltoppers for the Cup.

And yet you're the 5th best athletic program in the league.

Do you really believe that?
With first place finishes in baseball and softball....do you think we will end up in 5th?

Of course not. That's silly. You'll be at least the 4th best.

So if South Al actually wins the Bubbas Cup, you would consider South Al as the best program right?
But the Cajuns won the Belt in Football, Basketball more than likely Baseball and Softball. Four of the big 5. Yet we are the 4th or 5th best athletic department because we do not play as many sports?

I didn't say anything about South Alabama, I don't care enough to investigate why you're 5th.
