Do-or-die this weekend to maintain a decent ranking and post-season prospects. Need to get it done against some quality teams.
We're now 0-2 against potential post-season, Top 35 caliber clubs, and both at home (which comes with an RPI penalty). Not good.

Stanford isn't a potential post-season club?
Yeah, not a great start. But, have chances this weekend to get it done against quality competition and then a re-match in Huntsville. Let's see where we are after the SHSU game next week.
In other news, it has been a night of upsets. VMI beat #1 UVA and WKU beat #4 Vandy.

My thoughts exactly. Or the kind of losses that keep Rice out of the national seed picture.

I think you are about to jinx it as UTPA is imploding in the 9th.

Are there any guys on the bench who might be given a legitimate chance as a hitter to see what they can do? I guess specifically I'm talking about Chase McDowell, Beau Rathjen and Dayne Wunderlich, although I don't know if the last two guys are healthy or not.

'Horns eek out a win in the 11th over UT-Pan Am. UT used every one of their position players. The LHN TV announcer said the Minute Maid game Friday night will be televised.
I couldn't get away from the office tonight to catch the Sam game. Sam seems to have our number since they hired Pierce, beating Rice 5 of 6 during that span: today, twice last year in home & away, and splitting home & away in 2012, but beating Rice 4-1 in the all-important rubber match to eliminate us in the Reckling regional. Any clue as to why?

They have performed better than we have when we have played, that's for sure.

I just think our mental approach to hitting is haywire (not that I know what I'm talking about). We seem to have been in a hitting funk the last several years. I was really hoping Berkman would join the squad this season like he intended to, but I hear he is coaching at Second Baptist. I really don't get that..........just baffling.

Losing sucks. Losing hurts. But good god, the hyperbole!
Then don't read my in-game thread posts. From reading the Chronicle article, sounds like The OG pretty much said the same thing to the team as I said in my posts. The truth hurts sometimes, but that's not a reason to avoid it.

At this point, I would agreed to being on the road for the Supers. I guess the team didn't mind being on the road in June last year because you don't see the the spark to avoid being road warriors this year.
How exactly would you see that spark? Just by winning?

The 2003 club and others up to a few years ago always seemed to pull out games like this. Very rarely did the game go the B 9th and did you feel like they weren't going to pull it out. As I commented at the Texas St game this is like watching the '59 Go Go Sox as far as hitting goes. However the Sox would manage to score runs because they got walks, SBs, Sac flies and put pressure on the defense whenever they got someone on base. We just struggle at times getting on base and when we do we can't move them forward.

Well, we pulled out the Texas State game. And we gave ourselves a chance last night. Isn't always going to happen. As RiceLad said, it is 9 games into the season. I want to see a bit bigger sample before I push the panic button.
