He was great on SCTV. A lot of talented people came out of that Toronto based company. John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Morenus, Kathreen O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Joe Flarity, Eugene Levy..........few others.

What Dip said, that SCTV turned them out and was great to watch. He was multi faceted and an incredible talent.

Man, that's a tough illness he endured. Brutal.

Not many can give our culture what he did.

Intelligent, great sense of humor, and hugely gifted.

Unfortunately they die too.

Boy am I feeling old.

I am too, I watched you play, a QB from my neighborhood started at BUGS when you were at WMU. Was a big deal to watch him and we saw him play WMU a few times there and at home. You missed the "Ted" years at qb, right?

Last week I flew through the D to a get together, a hs buddy of ours was found dead a few weeks back. We had a great time but......

I've endured many passings, friends, fiancee, immediate family, relatives, tragic, sickness, accidents, old age, etc, this was the first from my peer group of "natural causes". First a cousin a few months ago who passed in his sleep, not much older than I, and this guy the same thing. It's on.

It's time to appreciate what I have and enjoy life at the same time.

Ted Grignon was WMU QB while I was in HS.

His brother Jamie played at GVSU when I coached there.

Our QBs were Billy Screws, Paul Jorgensen, Pepper Powers.

I dont think I have seen Paul in 35 years. He and his wife Ann Teman(cheerleader) were at our wedding. Saw them again once or twice up in Michigan but nothing in a long while.

Was the BGSU QB Mark Miller?

Jorgy and Ann were back home in Greenville as of 2000. I was coaching Owosso then and we played GHS - Paul's son was QB. He is now WMU's equipment manager.

BG's QBs when I played were Reid Lamport and Joe Babics, then Miller started as a freshman my last year.

Ted is one reason Danielson went to Divine Child instead of staying at Edsel. Big debate on who was better in that neighborhood for years.

The backup at BUGS was named Booth if I remember. He was the guy.

Miller, who lead the Michigan Panthers (?) of the USFL (?) to a championship or championship game if I recall. He married Barb Reardon, Mike's (WMU '76) sister.

My father in law smoked until he was 60, was an alcohol most of his life, is grossly overweight with a stomach as big as a pregnant women carrying twins, he's diabetic, has a pace maker, heated his house with coal and wood (and inhaled it) his entire life, had a temper that cost him one job after another, and raised 5 kids....................I'm sure I'm leaving out some other vices, but the guy is 82!!!

What the hell is the formula to longevity? 03-hissyfit

I did not know that.

Bobby Hebert was QB that led Panthers to USFL championship.

My bad. I believe he was the back up. Been way too long. Memory is fuzzy.

I remember that because I was at that championship game (in Denver).
