I agree with you DB, that Arizona is the most beautiful state in the union. In the Midwest you drive for hours and the scenery does not change. In AZ you can drive north from Phoenix for 2 hours and go through major climate/geographic changes.
I loved the summers when in the DC area. Wife thought I was crazy, but on weekends just liked to be outdoors and bask in the heat. It just felt so good. Of course, it helps when you can escape into an air conditioned home at anytime.
At times I do regret having come back to Michigan, though the grandkids are here, and of course WMU. But man this winter I have to wonder, what in the h3ll was I thinking????

You're right about adjusting to extreme heat. I interned in Dallas one summer. Never dropped below 70 (even at night) the entire time I was down there.
I realize I'd adjusted when, one day after work, I walked out to my car and thought to myself, "man, it's only 90 or 95 out here today."

thats how i've felt this winter. above freezing is literally sweatshirt weather for me right now.

I wore a t-shirt into work last Thursday with no jacket when it was in the 50s...
