RE: Who is a better rival to Louisville
I doubt it matters much whether the "rivalry" ranks third, fourth, fifth, or sixthg in the opinions of some --- just as long as we continue a series w/ them the game will be highly entertaining IMO. The UK - Louisville rivalry just might be the biggest in the country and after Louisville gets settled in the ACC I'm sure some of those game will begin to receove major national interest. Just continue to play us - that's all I'm concerned w/ at this point 03-wink

It appears they dislike us more ... so on that basis, I'd say we are the bigger rival.

RE: Who is a better rival to Louisville
It seems to be split pretty even over there. I agree with one of the posters there, "UL/Memphis at its best was far bigger than UL/Cincy at it's best." I think UL/Cincy is currently stronger just because they've been in conference together and we were left behind. But now tht UL has decided to keep us (rightfully so), our rivalry will quickly get back to big time.

Cincy or UK would have to be bigger for them I would say.

And of course that thread is going to say UC the majority of the time since they just played and beat them this weekend. Most people have short memories.

That's one of my arguments for why we should play Ole Miss and UT but no one seems to agree.

I just don't see the parallel. UK and UL is always a fight between two tradition rich basketball schools that hate each other. UT and Ole Miss hate UM because UM has always carried the state and area in basketball. Something UT, undoubtedly, has felt about football, especially in the past.

UL does seem to have a pretty strong hatred towards Memphis over UC, however.

From reading Catspause, it seems like to me that KY and Louisville are like the Hatfields and McCoys. They absolutely despise each other. It's deep-seated and boundless hate.

You don't see the parallel? Do you see all the threads about UT and Ole Miss that get posted here? It's like our fans have a fetish for seeing them fail. That's what makes good rivalries.

I can attest to this. UK is brutal. You guys got a small taste with those douchebags when they hired Cal. The most delusional fan base in the world. Bama football is close. But there's nothing better than listening to a UK sports call in shows after they lose. It's almost as good as when we win a game like we did against Cincy.

I'd have to agree with whoever said in this thread that our rivalry with you was bigger at it's highest than our rivalry with Cincy at it's highest.

We REALLY had some good old fashioned hate going with you all. And now that edge is kinda gone, which is probably a good thing. More respect there than maybe before. But the old Metro Conference battles were freakin legendary. And Missouri Valley before that, although that was before my time. Back in the day, you guys were pretty close to the hate we feel for UK. And that's saying something.

So .... I'd consider you guys a bigger rival than Cincy.

Looking forward to trying to get some revenge from our earlier loss to you all this year. Should be a good game. Both our teams match up pretty well.

I remember the beat down of 87 ... Crum wanted the league to vote us out of the conference tourney ... SORRY DENNY. We beat em in Cheat um ... like a drum. They were so pissed ... they turned down an NIT bid. If ya ever catch any flak. from a jerk in red ... about DWash or whatever ... ask em if they remember 87. Shuts em up every time.

I have to admit. I do see them brought up a lot. Not so much by the UM fans though.
