^^ Correct. No flag if anyone is called a honky, wap, dego, jew or what-have-you.

My understanding again is the group wants to end alll usage of the word and they acknowledge the bigger issue is black-on-black usage

I have attached a link from ESPN's Outside the Line with a snippet of Jason Whitlock's two cents on the subject.

So tell me Mr. Frank, you being a lawyer and all, would the word "thug" be considered a racist term?" Would it hold in a court of law? I'm not asking Feetbot, he being a history teacher and not a lawyer so I'll go with what you say.

Should be a prison term for uttering it if it's so offensive.
Unfortunately for them, would put the rest of the black population in jail if so.

Saying "thug" alone isn't likely going to get you slapped with a discrimination lawsuit in the way that saying the N-word automatically makes you culpable. However, you still need to look at the context. For example, if you're repeatedly calling an African-American in your office a "thug" and the same thing isn't being directed at the white people in your office, then it's certainly possible that you'd be looked at targeting that person on racial grounds and creating a hostile work environment. A lot of lawsuits have advanced on a whole lot less than that.

My general advice in seeing a lot of these issues over the years: if you don't have anything nice to say about someone personally in your workplace, then just shut the f**k up. Avoid all of these issues that we're talking about here from the get go by not opening your mouth in the first place. People are simply a LOT more sensitive and litigious these days and that's simply not going to change. So, whatever might have been an acceptable comment or joke in the past is not going to be the same today (and it's only going to get more stringent, so people need to adapt with the times).

Stephen Smith is ridiculous. I never heard of him until he claimed that the Miami Heat's 14 game winning streak was more impressive than the Chicago Blackhawks' 21 game point streak last year.

I've considered him an idiot ever since.

Considering the Heat did end up winning 27 straight and the Blackhawks just avoided losing in regulation for 21 games then yeah.. I'd consider it more impressive. If I recall correctly Chicago lost in game 8 or 9 in a shootout that season.

Even 14 consecutive wins is more impressive than not losing in regulation/shootout for 21 games (which the Blackhawks did numerous times in that stretch).

At the end of the day 15 yards is 15 yards. I'd imagine, if this rule passes, every coach in the league will tell his players, black andwhite, to listen out for any derogatory name calling.
