Now somebody needs to tell Gillen that Willie Nelson did "On the Road Again," not Kenny Rogers, lol.

It would be close, either way.

I predict UConn drops down to 24 and SMU gets back in at 25.

UCONN shot poorly and it cost them. Wish the tigers had been so lucky.

Los of good teams are tightening up this time of year. Pre-tourney jitters I guess.

@GrantMilner: Based on my calculations, Memphis now controls its own destiny for the 3-seed in the #AAC. Must win out, though, which is a lot to ask.

RE: UConn/SMU
This was good for Tigers (the SMU win today). UConn now has 5 conference losses and still plays both Cincy and UL again. They should finish with 6 (possibly 7) conference losses and be the 5 seed. IF Memphis can split with UL/Cincy, the Memphis vs SMU game on senior day will likely be for the AAC tourney 3 seed. We could potentially lose to both UL and Cincy, and STILL play SMU last game of season for the 3 seed (because SMU will likely lose to Cincy/UL by then as well).

Like TripleA said, these are the top 5 seeds regardless, and they are ALL in the NCAA tourney regardless at this point. Memphis needs to get the 3 seed in AAC tourney to get Houston (likely) in the 3/6 game. Then we get either Louisville/Cincy in semis, then see what happens.

I think the conference tourney winner should be a 3 seed, conference tourney runner up a 4, and the two teams that make semis a 5/6. Then the 5th team is still deserving of around a 7. In other words, we have FIVE teams that could do some damage in March, all depending on matchups. And they are ALL battle tested because they will all beat up on each other over the next 3 weeks. This is gonna be fun Tigers fans! Let's enjoy it win or lose! Much better than the days of CUSA.

Of course, you can say the same for SMU, too.

Things are going to get really interesting in the AAC these next two weeks. These last 4 games for Memphis are huge considering what may transpire with the other teams

RE: UConn/SMU
Yeah, but I don't see how Memphis has to "win out" to get the 3 seed.

If SMU wins the next one then loses to UL and Memphis, they finish 12-6 in conference.
If Memphis wins the next one, loses to BOTH UL and Cincy, but beats SMU, they finish 12-6 in conference.
So how do they determine tiebreaker for Memphis/SMU if they both finish 12-6 in conference and split regular season matchup?

If Memphis splits with UL/Cincy, and beats SMU, Tigers will be the outright 3 seed at 13-5 in conference... provided SMU loses their last two to both UL and Memphis.

UConn still have Cincy and UL left, and are currently at 5 losses. They will likely finish with 6 losses, and possibly 7.
So Let's say Memphis/UConn/SMU ALL three finish at 12-6 in conference... that would make Memphis the 5 seed because they were swept by UConn, who was swept by SMU. So who is the 4?

I'm not sure how tiebreakers work in this league, but with only 3 or 4 games remaining for the top 5 teams, it's all still VERY much up in the air for tourney seeding.
Regardless of how it all goes down, this tourney will be a DOGFIGHT! I'm glad it's in Memphis. Even if Tigers get put out early, will STILL be some good basketball to watch.

Does anyone have a break down of all the scenarios or rules on how tiebreakers work?

RE: UConn/SMU
Before everybody gets too jacked up, keep in mind:

All 5 teams will be seeded 1-5 in the AAC tourney, regardless of what happens the rest of the regular season.

Memphis will likely be 3, 4, or 5, whether we win or lose the last 4 games.

All 5 teams will likely be ranked Monday.

All 5 teams will likely make the NCAA tourney.

Now is when it gets fun. I just want to slide by Houston on Thursday, and then see what happens. From there on out, every game we play, until our season ends, will be against an NCAA tourney team, unless we get the 3 seed and play Houston in the conference tourney.

It looks like the AAC will have 5 ranked teams next week. Sweet!

This is a fun season...nobody is dominant...the big dance is going to be wide open,,,I have no idea who might win it all. I think my final 4 without knowing the brackets would be Creighton, Florida, Syracuse, and Memphis. :)

Dang, SMU has the Huskies number this year, as well as, UConn has our. Another win over Louisville would be sweet, to win all 3 would be sweeter.
