These ESPNU announcers are terrible
Something feels very awkward and strange about these two announcers.

I guess it's politically incorrect to complain about a female announcer, but this girl hasn't said anything remotely insightful the entire game. It feels like they are faking enthusiasm. Anyone who is not a fan of Memphis or Temple would change the station in a second.

I guess it's the arrogance of ESPN. They don't think they have any competition so they can be politically correct and it doesn't really matter. I hope Fox Sports 1 and CBS Sports become major players.

At least I don't have to put in on mute like I do when Dickie V does the game.

Plus she looks alive. Not so much for Doris. I thought she was pretty good. Not outstanding, but pretty good.

Frankly, I hardly noticed them at all!

There were a few times when the male announcer got very excited about Shaq's string of amazing dunks.

Other than that, they were pretty much perfect.

RE: These ESPNU announcers are terrible
There have been worse this season. Trust me on that. It's almost funny how they're incapable of calling a Temple game without the same talking points

-Temple is the only program in the country with 4 players averaging 14+ PPG (Anthony Lee was out with a toe injury and just dropped under 14 PPG, so they can no longer use this)

-Fran Dunphy has been in Philly for a long time, played at LaSalle, coached at Penn, coaches at Temple, and has a master's degree from/lives in Villanova
-Insert comment about how he should take classes at St. Joe's so he has completed the Big 5

-Fran Dunphy shaved his mustache as a promise to Dionte Christmas for graduating

-Fran Dunphy is a great guy/well respected/does a lot for the community

-Fran Dunphy teaches an honors business course in Temple's business school (90% of the time they'll say the name of the course)

-If we're playing a ranked team, something about our streak of beating top 10/top 25 teams

It's nauseating listen to the same **** over and over again.

Kind of like our talking points here-Pastner can't coach, has no control, too much emphasis on the guards, cliches in his interviews...

The young lady added no insight to the game. Didn't sound like she spent any time with either team before she put on the microphone. Some of the other veteran color commentators talk about what they saw at practice or walk thrus, or even discussions they had with players and coaches. To me, looks like she did no homework.

RE: These ESPNU announcers are terrible
I didn't really mind the announcers in this game but they were a little repetitive with the "tough 3 game stretch" comments by Pastner.

Personally I'd like to hear less critiquing (see Bilas and others) and more play by play(like the old Dodgers announcer I think his name is Vin Scully)

But I could see where certain commentators get on your nerves. There's been games I hate and also games I don't mind that have the same announcers. When Bobby Knight started doing games I didn't like him now I don't mind him so much.
Gottlieb will annoy me forever.

Did she do the bit on the Gibson shop?

I had to listen to it on the Philadelphia radio feed. Although the announcers were pulling for Temple, they exploded with a "Slam!" Every time Shaquille threw one down.
