I thought she knew some things about the Tigers that most one time announcers would not know. Pretty, Pretty Good!! as Larry David would say.

I guess it's politically incorrect to complain about a female announcer, but this girl hasn't said anything remotely insightful the entire game. It feels like they are faking enthusiasm. Anyone who is not a fan of Memphis or Temple would change the station in a second.

I guess it's the arrogance of ESPN. They don't think they have any competition so they can be politically correct and it doesn't really matter. I hope Fox Sports 1 and CBS Sports become major players.

You complain about everything from female commentators and gay marriage to capitalism and business owners.

what doesn't bother you?

obviously its complaining03-idea

I liked the announcers ... I'd give em an 8. This was a good TV game to watch. Did us more good than a blow out.
If we'd lost ... my opinion would probably change ...
Now bout dem dogs ...

My impression of the announcers is that I enjoy the hell out of playing on ESPNU, as opposed to FSN1, for example. Way more exposure, and easier to follow from out of town.

In other words, as long as we get to play on an ESPN network, I don't give a diddly damn who calls the game.

If it were two awful male announcers would political correctness come up?

To be fair, our announcer, Harry is a bit of a moron. He probably didn't realize Temple wasn't wearing blue.

CBS OTA is likely better, but CBSSN, where Gillen shows up, is not. They have decidedly less homes than all the ESPN channels, especially ESPN and ESPN2.

Just re-watched the game. The female commentator was easy to look at. That's about all I took from that.

RE: These ESPNU announcers are terrible
When you think about the number of games that the WWL televises on a given Saturday, you gotta understand that not every announcing team is a A team crew. Considering it was a latte start game Saturday night on U, then you understand that the team we had was still cutting their teeth.

I thanked them for coming to Memphis and hoped they enjoyed themselves, and I thought "Wow!" That twosome was VERY young. Nothing against young, but clearly they lacked the experience and context that more tenured tams could put together...

Unless your team is spelled D U K E or K E N T U C K Y, they really have no interest in what anybody else does. Maybe the rest of the ACC, but that's about it!

Interesting that when you have a bad female commentator, its a reflection of women.... but when you have a bad male commentator, it's a reflection of the individual.

Sadly this applies to many aspects throughout society.

RE: These ESPNU announcers are terrible
The whole game I was distracted by the play-by-play guy's weird/inaccurate statements. The woman doing color said a few things that confused me, but nowhere near as many as him.

I swear he said Cal wasn't here very long early in the game, and it gnawed at me the whole time because how did he make that mistake?! How did he not pay attention to college basketball during the entirety of the past decade?

I now have an irrational hatred of that guy for being so wrong so often.

But yeah, beats the hell out of FS1 or whatever. I love our TV deal.

Aforementioned irrational hatred aside, this is 100% accurate. It wasn't a big game, and sometimes crews are going to be learning on the job. They all seemed incredibly green, and even the video/audio production seemed a little more shaky than usual. Not a huge deal, ultimately.

Well I mean, a male commentator is just plain NORMAL. Read your bible or a history book or something, man.

I was at the game- but was it Brooke Weisbrod? She is listed as announcing AAC games for ESPN.

The male announcer said Cal wasn't here very long. You are correct Psicosis. Cal was here 9 years, but listening to ESPN announcers, you would think he has been at Kentucky for 18 years.
