Here's my perspective of it. It looked more like a charge to me than a block, so I don't necessarily disagree with the ref just looking at that single play alone. Yes, it was very close and could have gone either way, but to me it looked more like a charge on the replay. The ref should have understood it was a close call and went easy on the coach before T'ing him up though. So I disagree with throwing him out. That was totally not necessary. But what really caught my eye looking at the replay was how the Syracuse player appeared to be on the baseline, foot on the line, when he caught the pass to begin with, before driving in. Look at it again and you will see. So forget charge, Syracuse got a break in that no-call before the sequence even began.
I didn't watch any other part of the game, just the coach going bananas part. lol But if like people were indicating, charging calls weren't being made on the other end of the court, it is an issue of consistency and if I was a Syracuse fan, I can see myself being pissed too.
But then again, let's rewind back to the first Syracuse-Duke game earlier this season.. we can all agree that missed Duke dunk was clearly a Syracuse foul and that game was gift-wrapped and given to Syracuse by the refs. So I don't see what Syracuse fans are complaining about. They should have lost BOTH games. Just be happy to have stolen a win from Duke. lol
Just as a side note, I'm not a fan of either team, and definitely not a Duke fan. This is just my observation and opinion of the situation.
The replay, without the feet of the defender, looked like a charge. If the replay included the defender's feet it looked like a block. Defender's feet hopped and seemed to be lifting off the ground when the Syracuse guy hit.
But I was pretty sure that all close plays would be decided in favor of Duke, since Duke got screwed in Syracuse by the refs. To Coach K's credit he did not run out on the court when he got screwed. hah.

I can't stand Boeheim after the way he acted during the Bernie Fine investigation. He acted so pompous and arrogant about an investigation that children were sexually abused. He got a free pass from ESPN because they love him. He should have been given the Paterno treatment.
He was defending a man that everyone wrongfully accused. What would you have done in that situation?

Well said and fairly presented.
Somehow, I don think those obsessed with hating Duke will admit to Duke getting screwed in the first Syracuse game.
everyone knows Duke gets ALL the calls. The numbers even bear it out.......oh wait.

RE: Syracuse Screwed....
In today's game where someone like Joe Jackson can get to the rim by taking two steps from above the free throw line, a defender should not have the right to move into a player's lane once he has made a move to the basket, and in my opinion that begins when he takes his first step toward the basket and that could be from the free throw line, wing or wherever these guys begin their "shot".
That was a close call, but a bad call.
