Better basketball league from top to bottom now. I love the closeness of the teams talent wise.

RE: 5 teams fighting for 1st place
MTSU: 11-2 (but La Tech coming)
USM: 10-3 (but no +.500 teams left)
UTEP: 10-3 (Tulsa at home)
Tulsa: 10-3 (@ UTEP)
la tech: 10-3 (MTSU at home, @ UAB).

so... (overall = Vs. d-1 only)
I see MTSU losing to La Tech, going 13-3, 21-8 overall
USM sweeps: Goes 13-3, 24-5 overall
UTEP: Sweeps: Goes 13-3, 21-8 overall
Tulsa falls to 12-4, 17-12
La Tech sweeps: Goes 13-3, 23-6 overall.

Again, someone remind me why our conference doesn't get the respect why the other top-heavy conferences do?

Honestly I hope that's how it goes. But for us, MT is TOUGH, glad we get them at home. UAB in B'ham is TOUGH. Hoping we can pull it off.

Me too, because I think that means UTEP would be the number 1 seed.

And we'd at least get a double bye 4 seed.

Who does UTEP have left to play?

The MTSU game in Ruston Thursday night is going to be huge even with our loss to ECU. We aren't playing very well at all right now but should be really up for the last home game.

Me too, because I think that means UTEP would be the number 1 seed.

I take that back. I think it would end up like this if there is a 4 way tie with LT beating MT.

1. Southern Miss
2. UTEP
3. LT
4. MT

Record against the other teams in the tiebreak:

USM 2-1 (UTEP W, LT W, MT L)
UTEP 2-1 (USM L, LT W, MT W)
LT 1-2 (USM L, UTEP L, MT W)
MT 1-2 (USM W, UTEP L, LT L)

Southern Miss wins the tiebreak over UTEP head-to-head. LaTech wins the tiebreak over MT (again, assuming they win). If not, MT jumps to #1 and everyone moves down a spot.

Let me know if I'm off.

There are also 9 teams fighting for 6th through 9th place and at least 1 bye. The weirdest part is that ECU could possibly finish as high as 6th or as low as 15th.

Even if ECU wins the next 3 and finishes 7-9 -- and I think they have a very strong chance to do that -- it will be hard for the Bucs to finish better than 9th, unless there are a lot of upsets involving other teams currently in the 6-7-8-9 slots.

Tulane is now 7-6 and has the tie-breaker against ECU, so I think 7th place is the best ECU can finish in the standings.

Don't count us out just yet guys. @UTEP should be a battle. I just hope the team that blew out some teams this year shows up, and not the one that came out slow at rice and fiu. TU owns the tiebreaker vs mtsu so we need to win out and both mtsu and la tech to lose once. (IM LOOKIN AT YOU UAB! YOU HAVE BOTH THESE FOOLS AT HOME!)

I can't wait for the tourney. It's going to be a battle all around. I'm glad my wife and I will be able to see the entire schedule like last time. She surprised the heck out of me because she watched and wanted to watch all the games. I better take care of this woman, there aren't many that would put up with so many basketball games not involving the Miners. A sports fanatic like me I guess.

Nope. Southern Miss would be #1.
In the 4-way head-to-head, Southern Miss and UTEP would be 2-1 and MTSU and La Tech would be 1-2. Southern Miss would win the head-to-head with UTEP.
