Can the Democrats Take Back the South
They seem to think so. With the help of their voter fraud campaigns and illegal immigration, what are their chances?

I saw that story. politico is frequently delusional. they have a better chance of inhabiting the moon, granting it state's rights, and getting elected as senators from the moon.

Can the Democrats Take Back the South
Took more than a century to lose it, won't take it back any time soon.

They said the same thing about the opposite for a hundred years or so.

in southern states with large metro areas, maybe. I mean NC and VA have both gone blue at least once during the last two election cycles.

In the other states, not a chance.

RE: Can the Democrats Take Back the South
Yes, we Southerners long for the time of the return of Democrat control of the South.
We so much want even larger indebtedness, more loss of jobs and even more unemployment.
Hey, be sure and bring the most corrupt union leaders with you. They just do not make enough
money and need our knuckling under to help them get fatter and richer. Let's do climate control
payments to fatten up the pockets of the biggest Libs also.

RE: Can the Democrats Take Back the South
Democrats mistakenly believe that the reason southerners (and by that they mean white) vote Republican is because of race. Nothing is further from the truth. Southerners, because of their history, are more anti-government, more strong defense, more socially traditional. Unless they (national Democrats) can embrace those concepts and others or change that culture, they'll not swing southerners back their way.

Kentucky is still 2 to 1 registered Democrats to Republicans and has only elected one Republican Governor in the last 40 years (just one term) and one house of the state legislature is Democrat and has been for many decades....yet.....Kentucky's Congressional Delegation is almost all Republican and typically is one of the most Red states in Presidential elections. Except for Louisville politicians, democrats in Kentucky are typically D in name only.

RE: Can the Democrats Take Back the South
Here in El Paso it seems 99% are demos. There are hardly any Republican office holders. We're not a very smart bunch. There's a girl that just seems to have graduated from Law School and is now running for the U.S. Senate, no, not the State Senate but the big one. She's a demo and if history serves us right she'll rule the votes here in good Ol' Democratically Run El Paso. No wonder the people in Austin don't want anything to do with us they know who we'll vote for.

RE: Can the Democrats Take Back the South
It's doubtful that the Democrats can actually sweep the South. However, Florida and Virginia are now leaning Democratic (at least for presidential and state-wide election purposes) and North Carolina is a toss-up. The next in line is Georgia, as its demographic trends track Virginia and North Carolina on a delayed basis along with its voting. The margin of victory for the Republicans was only 8% in Georgia in 2012, which is equal to the margin of victory for the Bush in 2004 in Virginia (which then flipped in the next election). Georgia will probably be closer than expected in 2016 (enough for the GOP to need to spend advertising money there in the general election) and then be a North Carolina-esque tossup in 2020. Everyone else in the South outside of the states mentioned above is probably going to be red for the foreseeable future.
