A few months ago I was debating the "academic superiority/inferiority" merits with some JMU fans, and I mentioned that many of we ODU grads were very successful professionals earning six figure salaries. Some JMU twerp sniped, "Why do you ODU guys always bring up how much money you make?" I replied, "Because you guys always talk about your SAT scores, and in the real world, $$ > SAT's in determining who is a real success."

Their response was...(insert sound of crickets chirping here).

That dichotomy is even more impressive when you consider that so many JMU grads work in NoVa, where similar job salaries are substantially higher than those in Tidewater and the rest of the state.

They insist that you must address it by its formal name, the Deerfield-Culpepper Farmers' Market.

Simply look at endowments. ODU is in much better position than JMU. Also...their acceptance criteria and ours are very close. Not much difference at all. Now add the fact that we graduate more STEMH graduates than they do and we serve a much broader demographic, I would say ODU is a superior institution. I will also add the growth potential for ODU is far greater than JMU. I truly believe, if we could build a stronger coupling to EVMS ODU would grow exponentially in the health sciences arena. Why do you think Norment is doing everything possible to keep this merger from happening ?

The fact is Norment is doing everything possible with improper actions to harm ODU's future. He is pedaling his influence and power that was bestowed upon him by the electorate. His indictment against Old Dominion is not limited to just the EVMS issue. His condescending remarks expose him for what he is. His only mission is to cut us (ODU) off at the pass, his concern is if Old Dominion were to eventually orchestrate a merger with EVMS, ODU will see massive financial rewards that will propel Old Dominion's visibility to the national stag. His selfish self serving interest has him actively campaigning against Old Dominion.

When Carolina kicked our ass down in Chape Hill, not one Tar Heel fan made a negative comment or smart ass remark to our group. To the contrary, we were bought a round of drinks at two seperate bars and shown some hospitality. Thats how you do it. Thats class.

Wow, maybe UNC showed some class, however did you read the poo poo board after our UNC game. They also infiltrated our board like trolls just to spew hate. I would call the pukes classless. The fact is they are more a wart on our arss, just hope to cut it out and forget it was ever there. I'll say no more.

▲▲▲ Believe it or not, there are a lot of message board a-holes who are quite classy and hospitable in person (& ODU is no exception).

Having said that, it is a bit entertaining to watch them squirm in Yeagerville.

Yep, what goes around comes around. That talked a ton of trash and ran our school and our blossoming program down and said it would be a decade before we could compete.

Running their noses in the FACT that we rocketed right past them and beat them both times we played is only fair.

I hope you're not referring to the 2013 UNC/ODU football game. Wearing neutral clothing, I observed at least a half dozen poor sportsmen within the stadium.

Yes sir..... another ego to deal with that is now in a position to pull strings against ODU.

Politics, It should be obvious, an ODU EVMS merger will strengthening the areas community health resources and should be driven by an out cry from Norfolk politicians. A merger with Old Dominion is the financially sound, community investment and logical alternative. Throw all reason out the window and let the cost to tax payers sore in the millions. The sad fact is the cost factor with a W&M merger will escalate to an unsustainable budget. The City, State and even a Federal financial bail out will ultimately be required to make this work. It will be an ongoing financial burden for Norfolk Citizens and everyone in the Commonwealth. State tax payers will eventually say no more. Everyone will see how this irrational decision with geographic restraints will need a fix. At that point the state will force a solution. That will eventually move more community medical services from Norfolk to Williamsburg.

A merger with W&M is feeding egos only, and will have catastrophic results. This will be the evolution if W&M and its political lap dogs MAKE this happen. This would polarize EVMS from Norfolk. Not to mention the massive financial losses Norfolk will suffer on the economic side.

Ralph Northam and Norment are going to make logical and financial prudent decision in regards to the merger for the hard working people of Virginia and Norfolk. NOT

We've always been better than them in basketball. Always. We lapped them in football in literally half a decade. That didn't come from thin air, it came from successful people donating their money to odu. This in and of itself refutes any intellectual superiority argument they have made.

She earned two degrees from that dumpster fire of a university in business and finance, and I literally crush her in every single academic or intellectual competition we ever have (granted this doesn't exactly prove anything, but it just only further proves what we all already know, a jmu education is extremely overrated).

I would say behavior like that says more about you than your insults say about JMU; and it does a disservice to the institution you're so eager to represent as a fan/alum. Luckily I know you're just one tool who happens to have ties to ODU, just like there are plenty of tools with ties to JMU, so I won't be saying things like "ALL ODU grads are tools who treat their girlfriends like dirt" as a result of your statements.

But whatever, good luck to ODU in their endeavors and hopefully JMU isn't stuck in the CAA forever.
