Tom Bradley to WVU - Report
http://wvmetronews.com/2014/02/21/holgor...assistant/

"Former Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley has agreed to join the West Virginia coaching staff, according to industry sources.

An announcement is expected early next week, just days ahead of the Mountaineers opening spring practice on Sunday, March 2."

I will wait for the official announcement, but I like where this is going.....

Sounds like a good move to me too. He was a good coach, but got blackballed due to the stigma attached to anyone on JoePa's staff when the Sandusky 01-rivals hit the fan.

A stigma?!?, only if you are unbelievably naive enough to believe that a 30 year coaching staff member was in the dark, despite being McQueary's roommate for a time a few years after the shower incident, and despite there being rumors for years all over the place about Jerry, even outside the athletic department. Bradley was a work out partner for his good buddy Jerry, right up until he was arrested. He looked the other way. The scandal stank is all over him, and he is a notorious skirt chaser, and now that stank is all over WVU. Congrats. But hey, as long as he helps you win a football game, right?

" During intense cross-examination by Jerry Sandusky's attorney at the former coach's child molestation trial today, alleged Victim 4 testified that former assistant football coach Tom Bradley once saw him showering with Jerry Sandusky and refused to leave the two alone.

"I think he was suspicious," Victim 4 said in court, during testimony that lasted all afternoon on the first day of Sandusky's trial."

When Bradley was openly lobbying for the Pitt HC job, and the Pitt DC job, with the Steelers trying to push him on Pitt for both positions, I and others made it clear that our support of the university's athletic department would end immediately if he ever so much as washed towels for the university, not that anyone with their priorities straight would hire this man.

That doesn't sound like Tom Bradley was culpable. It sounds like he was trying to make sure nothing happened to Victim 4.

I can tell you that his friendship with Jerry is well documented. The fact that he was seen working out with him in on-campus in PSU facilities the week prior to his arrest was documented in the press. The fact that he was McQueary's roommate for a time was also documented in the press. The fact that Sandusky's propensities was a long-time "open secret" in State College area (and among former players) has also been discussed in the press with quotes from the locals to that effect. Of course Victim 4's testimony that is linked above, essentially saying that he believed Bradley was suspicious of Sandusky despite all of that, and it was also known that Bradley was called to testify in front of the Grand Jury. I've linked some, but all of that and more was available in the press, although pinning down the exact articles out of the 1000s that came out during the scandal would take some time. Of course, his propensity to be a obnoxious barfly skirt chaser is of course is not documented, as that is a character issue more of the rumor mill variety, but pretty well known around the area. Beyond that, anyone that has spent any time on a coaching staff or locker room setting knows these types of things... indiscretions of fellow and former staff that, in this case, continue to be very close including having unfettered access to all facilities, and in Sandusky's case, actually continued to bring children to these facilities even after the McQueary attempt at whistle blowing, or the prior police investigation that was hushed over... such things are well known long before they are out in the general population rumor circles. But hey, he didn't know a thing, did he? His hands are clean. He the obvious choice to lead the team into a meaningless bowl game. Gotta play the bowl game.

No one dared cross the program, or risk impugning its reputation one iota, not even to protect children. Those things are taken care of internally, like everything else, and all other indiscretions that you'll never hear about.

It's a despicable hire and it speaks volumes about WVU and its priorities, unfortunately. WVU, until today, was a program that I advocated for a series renewal with over the preferences of our AD, because I thought it actually had some integrity unlike Bradley's former employer. No more.

Culpable, as in what you can prove legally, or just what piles of circumstantial evidence and common sense demand is morally reprehensible for his unwillingness to cross Paterno, who he has never wavered to continue to paint as a saint, that coincides with his willingness to look the other way, instead of trying something to stop children from being raped. He's a disgusting POS, like the rest of that lot. At least McQueary had the guts to eventually stand up. I wouldn't want that stench if he brought a dozen national championships and 100 Nobel prize winners to campus. Do people still not grasp what went on at Penn State? Children were serially raped, for decades, and it was enabled by a systematic institutional coverup to protect the image of a freakin' sports team that people willfully valued over the wellbeing of kids. My lord.

I remember when Paterno lobbied for Bradley at Pitt and it didn't happen. You have to wonder sometimes what people actually know but just won't say...

RE: Tom Bradley to WVU - Report
Burying your head in the sand is allowing Penn State to exist, when the university did nothing to prevent anything, and tried to cover it up when it was discovered. The State of Pennsylvania has a stain upon it that can never be removed, and it's called Pennsylvania State University. IMO State College, PA should be erased from the map, and Penn State with it.

If Bradley had been party to this, he never would have been made interim coach at Penn State. They'd have gotten rid of him at the same time they fired Paterno.

BTW, the B1G shares that stain, since they refused to expel Penn State from the conference.

RE: Tom Bradley to WVU - Report
Today's society is so willing to condemn with little or no proof. People also love to tear down anything perceived to be above them, so they can feel better about themselves. It's sad. But it's also human nature.

That's hilarious and unbelievably naive and/or ignorant about what went on, and really, unfortunately what continues on at PSU.

The school kept two of its most important recruiters on the whole way through the O'Brien era, despite one having been there since '96 and the other since '01. Any sort of normal university would have immediately cleaned house, if not before the end of the season, immediately after...a practice that is not even atypical with a normal coaching regime change.

It is documented that even the janitorial staff new about this, along with the other reports from the general populace, but these coaches were the only people in Centre County that were we are led to believe were absolutely clueless for the past 15-20 years, or more in Bradley's case.

Yeah, Ohio State has got some terrible, terrible stank on them as well.

Mike McQueary deserves a second chance. He's the only one that had the guts to eventually stand up, and he lost his career and wife over it, and was absolutely destroyed by the locals in Central Pennsylvania. His career is in absolute ruin and his life has been turned upside down because he eventually figured out that he needed to do the right thing.

Heinous cowards like Bradley, that still have demonstrated zero repentance or even understanding of what transpired, and have engaged in nothing but covering their own ass, don't deserve to ever work again in a position that demands the integrity needed when you have responsibility or influence over youth. Absolutely not. He had a gig on the radio with his media buddies, and that is where he should have stayed.

Regarding such football matters, frankly, I don't know how he could walk into any non-PSU blinded household living room for a recruiting pitch without that family being totally sketched out. How can he instill any confidence when he failed to stand up to child rape and long after continued to heap praise on the Paterno name?

WVU's also taking somewhat of a risk, because it is known that he testified for the Grand Jury, there are still multiple trials (the former PSU President, AD, and senior vice president), victim lawsuits, and investigations (DOE Clery, San Antonio) yet to conclude. He could certainly be dragged into that mess. Probably, luckily for them, the news cycle on this story has likely run its course for the major media outlets.

All very valid points that should be taken into account. Ultimately I believe Bradley should be given a second chance, but to pretend that no one would care about the 30-year PSU child sex abuse scandal just a couple years after the story broke, is seriously naïve. Bradley should be required to do something that symbolizes that he learned from the scandal, even if he is relatively blameless himself.
