Their guard speed is something I'm afraid we can't match. Using FAU as an indicator, we need to be careful that we don't walk into a hornet's nest.

This game has been a match-up nightmare from day one in my mind....

we don't shoot very well from the perimeter and our ball movement can be suspect at times...

we can pound in the paint, but you guys are just bigger

rebounds are going to be a problem for us

our 212 press will not be a factor in this game...unless you guys decide to run the floor.....don't see that happening

you guys will only defend the half court

you guys can pass over the top and make shots with less than 5 on the shot clock with regularity

I really think this one comes down to the foul line.....it's gonna be a battle

I really wish I could travel to the tourney this year and hook up with some of yaz....that was pretty damn funny!

Pizzed doesn't come close to describing my wife right now. she cant get off work for the tourney. I can think of 3 times in years past she went with a group of boosters to the girls tourney and left me at home with 2 boys playing baseball. Is something wrong with this picture?

I hope it's not a repeat of last year's 45-39 game. A win is a win, but it was terrible basketball to watch.

I hope it's not like that either. Unless it's UTEP 45, USM 39. Then I'll look the other way and rave about the defensive intensity.

From UTEP's perspective, this is probably how our defensive matchups are going to look.

Cooper 6'0" v. Watson 5'11"
Washburn 6'8" v. Brooks 6'0"
Bohannon 6'11" v. Boardingham 6'7"
Hunter 6'8" v. Brown 6'5"
Willms 7'1" v. Eason 6'7"

The good news is that I like this a whole lot better than it did with Craig in there. But, it's height v. athleticism, and we'll see what wins out.

Craig participated in the walk through at practice today without a walking boot. He's going to try and play.

see anyone shooting the way FAU did that night.
Miners will win on a close game.

Depends on what you like to watch. Last season's game was moreso good defense than bad offense.

Early in the conference schedule we surprised a lot of teams because they thought we were toast after the suspensions. Now we have a target on our backs and teams, just like FAU, are getting pumped up to play us. Believe me, USM will be motivated and will surely bring their A game. I think we'll be pretty pumped to. Should be epic.

Agreed. Still shaking my head at some Charlotte and UAB fans that told me I was crazy when I said that UTEP would be a factor the rest of the year and on their home court during the tournament. They then proceeded to lecture me about their great basketball history and their knowledge of the game. Still laughing as UTEP is tied for first.

Good, because if anybody knows how to pick a winner, it's Obama.

Dang it WC, you just jinxed us.... I think the same entity that is running the on-line healthcare enrollment system is running our UTEP marketing campaign.....

Just like ODU, lots of respect between these two (USM/UTEP) programs.
Maybe because we are two of a kind... the kind that got left behind LOL

I agree 100%. There's no telling if someone doesn't land on his foot or ankle (accidentally of course) and then you'll be worst off because you won't have him for the cusa tourney. I'd let him sit if I was you. 07-coffee304-cheers
