RE: Biggest Choke Of The Year Goes To
Dear Chip,
I have to disagree with you. I realize luck always plays a part in athletic contests, so let's call it what it was. The first Canadian goal came off of a deflection from a thigh pad of one of the American women. That kind of goal is almost never scored in any hockey game, be it amateur or professional. I was watching the game on the Canadian channel, and the announcers never said how lucky that was.
The American women may have been upset, but they also know you hate to have that kind of luck in a game like this. I have no complaints about the other two Canadian goals that were scored. The first never should have. It was pure luck.

Salutations, Barnyard Ken:
"Luck" has little or nothing to do with FOUR CONSECUTIVE GOLD MEDALS by the Canadian women's hockey team. That's SIXTEEN freakin' years of getting beat by talent, hunger, chemistry, and pride of the Canadian team. Let's call it what it is ---- an extraordinary team and effort! Never heard that from one of U.S. team members. U.S. hockey, has gone from the "Miracle On Ice," to the "Debacle On Ice" (now, including the men!). Canada, almost certainly wouldn't have had to go to OT if the ref had correctly called a penalty shot (which wasn't awarded) when the "cross-checking from behind" call was made (the Canadian player clearly had control of the puck). We could also talk about the "net issue" after the Russian team scored, but I digress.
"Luck" is filling Rynearson Stadium. No, wait, that would be a freakin' MIRACLE!
Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing: "Battle of the Bands: Poozie Riot vs. Insane Clown Posse!"

Dear Chip,
The "Luck" will be Central filling Kelly/Shorts. You school hasn't filled it since Michigan State, and won't this year either.
Interesting how you talk about a penalty shot, but leave out the "Lucky" Canadian team when the empty net shot hit their goal post. That would have been the game right there. And I wasn't talking of the last four Olympics, only this last one.
