Now, Bill, I thought you loved living out in the boonies.

I do. I prefer armadillos to neighbors fifty feet from my backdoor watching me cook dinner.

I guess I thought those were possums. On my way to Heber, I'm just ready to get there and relax.

Me, too. I've seen possums, too....and coyotes and egrets and owls and geese and ducks and hummingbirds and rare swans and lots of deer and a nutria. Every trip I go ~~ and I've been going 16 years ~~ I swear I see a different type of animal. The last new thing I saw was a weasel-like creature fighting another one on the river bank.

You sure that wasn't two posters from MT.org fighting about what they wrote on the message board????

The biggest downside is...then what? I've got a bloody dead armadillo. I may try to grub killer but jeez, I've got 4 acres. I thought about getting an anaconda but it would take out my dogs. I wish I could lure them all onto Hwy 196.

If you get rid of the food source they go somewhere else and it isn't really your problem anymore. If you do kill one then you could bury it in your yard if you want. Getting rid of the source is the big thing otherwise more will come.

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to, but damn, killing grubs in 4 acres is no easy chore.

RE: Armadillos
My experience has been that they are after the fire ants. I have to spend money and time keeping the ants at bay with a granular treatment every few weeks, but I don't have the armadillos anymore. I don't mind shooting them, but then I live near some woods so I can get rid of the carcass easily.

Ants? I hadn't heard that. Could be, though.
