RE: KSU Football Recruiting Class 2015
2 new commitments. Both are DBs and one had an offer out of Syracuse. He said he wanted the chance to play as a freshman. That is a card that I am sure the coaches are using on the recruiting trail.

Also one is from Florida and one is from Georgia. I like how Haynes is reaching down south:

This kids knows how to sustain his blocks. I hope they are open to using him on the 0 line. We haven't had a lot of good 0 linemen lately.

RE: KSU Football Recruiting Class 2015
This is from the ohio.com's story on St. Edward's 31-21 state championship win:

"Troy Dipre was the leader of the defense this season: The Eagles defense has players who will be playing high-level Division I college football, but the leader of this unit this year was Dipre. The Kent State commit was all over the field, finishing with eight tackles and two sacks. One of those sacks was on a pivotal fourth down, allowing the Eagles to get the ball back."

KSU Football 2015 Recruiting Class Commitment List @ 14 recruits as of 12/09/14:

-Acworth GA (Allatoona HS) TE/OL - Conor Brumfield
-Lithonia GA (Stone Mtn HS) QB - Jakobi Meyers
-Canton OH (McKinley HS) LB - Nick Faulkner
-Lakewood OH (St Edward HS) LB - Troy Dipre
-Venice FL (Venice HS) - OL/DL - Alex Hoag
-Wellington OH (Wellington HS) OL – Bryce Gibbs
-Charleston WV – (George Washington HS) DL/OL – David Smith
-Atlanta GA (Mays HS) CB - Khalil Brooks
-Miami FL (Norland HS) CB - D'Andre Smart
-Brunswick GA (Brunswick HS) S - Carlos Pickett
-Allison Park PA (Hampton HS) DL/OL - Michael Marinelli
-Smiths Station AL (Smiths Station HS) - WR - Johnny Woods

-Springfield OH (Springfield HS) DL - Davonte James (Transfer from WVU, sat out this season, eligible for 2015, 2016, & 2017 seasons)

KSU had a small senior class this year, so I am not sure on the exact # of available scholarships for the 2015 class, but I would have to assume it will be less than 20. With that said, it looks like Haynes/staff are 2/3s of the way done and the quiet period starts this weekend and lasts through the 1st of the yr.

New offer: John Henry Bronczek
December 8, 2014, 12:00 am - Receives an offer from Kent State
MASSILON WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL - Class of 2015 (scoutingohio.com)

Still not enough talent at the linebacking spots, and our O-Line needs attention.

And he is now committed as well.

It's also worth noting that Pickett is a de commit from Marshall.

I admire Haynes for not being stubborn with an attitude of "We will win with Ohio". That is a severely limiting attitude to have and a normally a quick way to get to get fired.

WR Johnny Woods out of Smiths Station, Alabama is now committed to KSU. We still need a few more wideout/playmakers in this class. But this is a start. And he is 6'4" 215lbs.

That's some nice size! The taller wide outs with speed are a plus!

Looks like a 2017 recruit, but I saw a tweet that Cooper Hardin committed to KSU:

And another commit just on January 2, 2015....looks like we stole him from Marshall!!!

Breaking: Pickett commits to Kent State
Ryan Bartow

Defensive back Carlos Pickett (Brunswick, Ga.) committed to Kent State on an official visit this weekend.

"I just told the coach I'm committed," Pickett said. "All of the players made it feel like home to me. The coaches are all about getting the best players on the field. It was a honor and humbling experience."

Pickett plans to enroll in January.

He was previously committed to Marshall.

The three-star prospect is ranked as the nation’s No. 102 safety and the No. 134 recruit in Georgia in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

No, not that I have seen or heard. The AFCA Convention just completed yesterday and that is where a lot of the interviewing/networking/negotiating takes place for college and NFL openings.

http://www.afca.com/article/article.php?id=2511

Coach Haynes has to replace Brian Rock (QBs/Off Coord) and the CBs coach. Not sure if he bring in 1, 2, or 3 assistant coaches to fill those roles (Jeff Burrow could coach safeties/CBs, as opposed to just safeties). Coach Haynes could promote Don Treadwell from RBs coach, as he was a previous head coach @ Miami of OH and was an off coord in the Big Ten @ Michigan State.

I had thought Treadwell was leaving but found out over break that he is staying so that sounds like what will happen.
