Bears are 27-0...and counting...
Home record of Mercer Men's 'major' sports, so far, this academic year.

Football = 8-0
Basketball = 14-0
Baseball = 5-0

I could see hoops winning their last 2 regular season games at home and, potentially, 3 A-Sun tourney games to go 19-0.

Baseball has a tough stretch at home coming up with an undefeated Evansville coming to Macon for 3 games, then a single game with Savannah State, and finally, before they hit the road for a while, a single game with GaSou, who has beaten UGa 2x and GT to open their season.

Anyone a 'stat-head' or know a 'stat-head' who wants to look up the history?

Has a D1 School ever finished undefeated at home in Football & Basketball?

What is the record for consecutive home wins by the 3 major men's sports?

That kind of stuff. I think Mercer should be 'pumping' this. Maybe they are waiting until it comes to an end to 'lay claim' to the records.

Anyway - to me, this is way-cool and dang impressive!!!

This is definitely something to be proud of! Building a great home field/court advantage in recent history. It helps that the teams are really good too! Mercer should use this stat as you mentioned when promoting athletics.

In terms of football and men's hoops, I know Florida was undefeated at home in both during 06-07. Obviously winning a national title in both. So still pretty good company.

Looks like you are right about '06 - undefeated at home in FB (7-0) & MBB (18-0)

BUT - their 2007 baseball team lost their 1st game of the season @ Home to VMI...so they won 25 straight home games in men's 'major' sports...Mercer stands at 27 straight right now...perhaps a new NCAA D1 record?????

They lost to Auburn at home in Football in '07

9–29–2007 Auburn Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Gainesville, FL L 17–20

33-0 if you count the two Lacrosse home wins.

Yeah - but if you count LAX, don't you also have to count Soccer, etc.?

...and if you do that, well, it's not "XX-0"

So FWIW....while I'm sure it's not politically correct or inclusive-enough, I think you draw the line and say "Men's Major Sports Home Record"

BTW - GaSou BB game has been cancelled and the DiamondBears are on the road until 3/11. Up to the Men's HoopsBears to keep the streak alive and finish the season undefeated at home.

Not to play devils advocate but "Men's Major Sports" according to most NCAA individuals does not include baseball. At Mercer I am certain it is, but usually the most money making sports are only football and basketball.

I think they call those 2 "Revenue Sports"...but whatever...it's all good....except that the HoopsBears are now going to OT...

RE: Bears were 32-0...and are no longer counting...
Streaks ends at 23 for the "Revenue Sports" & 32 for "Men's Major Sports"

I think I was counting wrong the whole time. I thought Hoops was 14-0 at home, but they were 15-0....now 15-1

As bad and tough of a loss that was to UNF, FL Gulf Coast's loss to Lipscomb was worse. Each team had a golden opportunity to take control of the A-Sun, but both fell flat. Now we look to ETSU to beat Upstate.
