So has dickey cleaned up? He's a hell of a guitar player but I've read story after story about him being a mean alcoholic who most folks wouldn't tour with. Is he still with great southern?

Yes, he is still touring, and his son is part of the band. I think he has been pretty clean for his concerts, but my daughter did tell me his neighbors in Florida are pizzed at him for playing loud music in his yard. He's probably still ornery. I think that's hilarious. He lives in a multi-million dollar home, I believe.

With Dickey, you never know what you are going to get, but I'm willing to take a chance just to hear him play Blue Sky one more time.

I honestly think I arrived with $10 in my pocket and lived off that for more than two days due to the kindness of the "hippies." Yes, it was blazing hot, until it rained. I can tell you nearly every detail of that weekend, but there are vast stretches of the last 40 years that I have totally forgotten. It was a unique experience for a young person, to say the least. And the fact that I did very little drugs helps me remember everything so well.

I remember a lot of also. I had never done a drug. Oddly, that was in my most hippie era. Now the two guys I rode down with, were doing some weed, but I didn't know that until on the ride back. We had a tent, and a duffle bag full of pork and beans. If you go on google, there are some great pics taken by a guy who was from Mississippi State, it was his 21st birthday. The pic that got me the most was an empty can of Campblell's pork and beans. Parking way up by the interstate, and looking down that long road. I remember it well. I may have had $20 on me.
